Origins[]
“ | We were told a new student was coming. History of violence, anti-social behavior. Her mother was dead, her father was a drunk. She arrived at the school and... everyone stepped back. Everyone. So I stepped forward, extra time, extra lessons, extra love. | „ |
~ Anna explaining her story of Villanelle's origins to Eve Polastri. |
The woman who would one day become the infamous assassin known as Villanelle was born in Russia as Oksana Astankova to her mother Tatiana and her father Anatoly. She also had a brother named Pytor, both of whom were emotionally abused by their mother. Growing up, Oksana apparently didn't smile or cry to anything and behaved erratically, but she did love her dad, who taught her how to fight and the two were close. Eventually, after Tatiana believed that Anatoly loved Oksana more than her and that Oksana was in fact the only person who truly saw her for what she is, she abandoned her at an orphanage to fend for herself. When the orphanage told Oksana that her family had died in a car crash, she burned down the orphanage, thus marking the beginning of her history of violence that resulted in her being sent to juvenile detention centers multiple times.
At the age of 16, in order to get her onto the right path again, Oksana was sent to a school where an older language teacher named Anna Anmokoba nurtured her when others were too afraid, giving her extra lessons and love. Over time, Oksana grew obsessed with Anna and requested more lessons from her, in which he met her husband Maxi Leonova at home, who though she was cold. She and Anna then started an affair and Oksana would send her stolen expensive designer clothes. Eventually, Oksana became jealous of Anna's marriage to Maxi, claiming that she only loved him because he had a penis, in which she murdered him by castration. This resulted in a horrified Anna calling the police and having her incarcerated for 25 years imprisonment.
During her time in prison, she met an inmate named Nadia Kadomtseva and the two became lovers. Five years later after her imprisonment, Oksana helped Nadia escape from prison to be recruited by Konstantin Vasiliev, who was secretly on behalf of the assassin organization known as the Twelve. Going ahead to see if Konstantin was present, but Konstantin then decided to take Oksana instead, therefore leaving Nadia in prison. Upon this, the Twelve faked her death and gave her the alias "Villanelle", which is the name she now prefers to use. Afterwards, she was trained by assassin-turned-teacher Dasha Duzran, who deemed her as her best student. Eventually, Dasha apparently betrayed her at some point, leaving Villanelle vowing to kill her the next time she sees her.
Over the next four years, she performed countless contract killings, while feigning no interest in who she kills, who she kills for or why she kills them. Her past, however, had also caused her to develop a dislike towards her own native Russian language, and thus, she refused to speak it again. Throughout the entire assassin community, her violent reputation and dangerous nature, with many claiming that she was a "Dalgyal Guishin", which was the name of the Korean ghost known as the Egg Ghost, nicknamed the "demon with no face". Her actions had also caught the attention of Carolyn Martens, head of the Russian section in MI6, who would later on decide to assemble a small unit to track her down.
Meeting Eve Polastri[]
“ | Eve: Are you alright? Villanelle: Wear it down. |

~ Eve and Villanelle unknowingly meeting each other for the first time. |
In early 2018, Villanelle was sent to Vienna to assassinate controversial Russian politician and sex trafficker Victor Kedrin. As she waited in a cafe, she was eating ice cream while a girl at another table watches. After seeing her and the waiter exchange smiles, Villanelle smiled at her as well, in which the girl reciprocated. After checking her watch, she left but not before knocking over the girl's ice cream bowl into her lap on her way out the door. She later completed her assassination and left for Paris.
Back in Paris, Villanelle went shopping and returned to her apartment via the subway. She encountered her neighbor Madame Tattevin and the two exchange heated words. Back in her apartment, she undressed into her dressing gown and puts her wig and toiletries away. She then admires herself in a mirror as she powders her face white. Knowing that Konstantin was coming, she spread pills on the coffee table and laid on the couch holding a bottle of alcohol, playing dead. As Konstantin arrives, he sees right through her ploy but she jumpscares him. He gives her an envelope saying that it is a bonus and she's been asked to do another job in Tuscan, Italy before giving a postcard with information and leaving. She sits down with her laptop to decrypt the postcard and learns about her target: Cesare Greco.
Arriving in Tuscan, Villanelle rides through the country on a motorcycle until she arrives at Greco's estate. Sneaking into the top floor without getting caught, she steals one of his wife's dresses and joins his party. After following Greco's grandson Davide into the house, she convinces him to play a trick on his grandfather and call him back up to his bedroom. After locking Davide in a closet, Villanelle met Greco and asked him about who made the bedspread, in which he replied that it was from Liliana Rizzari. Introducing herself Syliviana Morel, Villanelle seduces him until she removes her hairpin and stabs him in the eye before depressing the plunger to inject him with poison. As he screams in pain, she gets a pen and write's Liliana Rizzari's name on her hand before looking Greco in the eye as he dies. She then leaves and returns to Paris.
The next day in the afternoon, Villanelle is woken up by Konstantin after sleeping with a French couple. After they leave, Konstantin informs Villanelle that Kedrin's girlfriend Kasia witnessed his death and will be interviewed the next day by MI5, in which she has to kill her and make it like a suicide before that happens. Arriving in London that night, Villanelle poses as a nurse to get close to Kasia, who was in a hospital. While in the bathroom getting ready, she meets an Asian woman with hair resembling Anna's, in which she told her to wear it down before leaving. She then slit Kasia's throat and killed the two guards and nurse beside her before leaving. Returning to Paris, she receives a bedspread she ordered from Liliana Rizzari and lays on it while reading her next assignment.
Arriving in Bulgaria, Villanelle chases her next target, Filip Petrova, who begs for his life, saying that he has a family and money, none of which she cared about. She also didn't care why she was sent to kill him and shoots him twice in the heart before watching him take his last breath. Returning to Paris, she meets her neighbor, Sebastian, who was worried about her eye. She arrives in her apartment to find Konstantin waiting, wanting to get her assessed again because she did not make Kasia's death look like a suicide. Although she was looking forward to her next kill, she reluctantly agrees. At the assessment, she is wearing a pink Molly Goddard dress and boots, and she is asked by Jerome how she was feeling and if she was in the right state of mind. Although it was going well, Konstantin made him ask her if she was thinking about Anna, which upsets her, ultimately resulting in Jerome refusing to sign her off.
Angered, Villanelle later told Konstantin to tell the Twelve she was fine, but he insisted that it was good for someone that she was fine. She hugs him, only to secretly pick the Paris postcard out of his pocket before he leaves. Back in her apartment, she is visited by Sebastian and she invites him out with her. They eat ice cream before returning to his apartment and have sex. She leaves with her dress and passes by Madame Tattevin who tells her "Good job". She returns to her apartment and begins working on her perfume for her next kill. Going by the name "Claudie", she goes to a political fundraiser as a cater, serving champagne to the guests before following her target, Carla de Mann to the restroom under the pretext of providing her with a tampon. She brings out her bottle of perfume for Carla to smell and try out, and after she does, she starts wheezing and coughing before suffering a fatal asthma attack as Villanelle watches.
Villanelle returns home to find Konstantin threatening to half her allowance for disobedience, only for Sebastian to interrupt, forcing Konstantin to claim to be her brother. Sebastian wants to try out her perfume, but Villanelles says she will bring it to him later. He gives her a thumb drive as a gift before leaving. Villanelle then threatens Konstantin with a knife to know what’s really going on. He confesses that an MI5 operative named Eve Polastri is leaving her department just to find her, and that she needs to be subtle. As she pops a champagne cork, they hear a thump and find Sebastian dead, having smelt the poisonous perfume. Using the new drive, Villanelle looks up Eve Polastri on the internet. After finding a photo of Nikolas Polastri's bridge club with Eve in it, Villanelle recognizes her from the bathroom the night she killed Kasia, realizing that she has seen her face.
Increasing Obsession[]
“ | Carolyn: She gave her name at the desk. Eve: Okay. Carolyn: She said her name was "Eve Polastri". Bill: Jesus. |

~ Carolyn, Eve and Bill learning that Villanelle wants Eve to come and find her. |
Instead of being worried that Eve has seen her face, Villanelle quickly developed an obsession with the MI5 officer and know everything about her. She headed to Berlin to assassinate a Chinese colonel named Zhang Wu during one of his appointments in a the "Hot Medica" office on his birthday. Posing as a nurse using Eve's name, Villanelle filled in as Zhang's usual nurse's substitute and has him undressed and strapped to the table. As she does the usual procedures, she ignores him calling out his safe word "frühstück" and places a face mask on him before turning up the gas valve, causing him to struggle. Villanelle then makes him look at her in the eye as he draws his last breath, and she then leaves before anybody notices. Knowing that her used alias will catch Eve's attention, she waits nearby the crime scene for her the next, only to be disappointed when she didn't.
Unsatisfied with this, Villanelle decides to instead seduce an older American tourist woman and take her back to her hotel. As they kiss, she tells her to wear her hair down and that she will call her "Eve" from now on, before saying that she is going to hide and "Eve" is going to find her, slightly disturbing the woman. The next day, she again waits for Eve and is satisfied when she does along with her partner Bill Pargrave. As Eve and Bill stand outside, Villanelle steals her suitcase and takes it back to her hotel. She is displeased with all of the clothes that Eve wears but takes an interest in her green zebra scarf. Konstantin arrives to find out why she's still in Berlin and warns her Eve is in town as well, and wants her to keep an eye on her. The tourist woman arrives and Villanelle introduces her as "Pamela" to her "angry uncle" before he leaves.
Villanelle later bumps into Bill while he talks to Eve and keeps walking. She later stalks Eve and watches her go clothes shopping for a dress. While Eve isn’t looking, Villanelle slips her a belt to match her blue dress before leaving. She later watches a recording of the video call between Eve and Niko while plucking her eyebrows. She later follows Eve and Bill to the train station and is spotted by Bill, who stops her from getting on Eve's train with her. As she leaves, Bill follows her through Berlin, which she realizes. As Bill alerts Eve, Villanelle lures him into the nightclub known as Funkeln. Villanelle lures him on the crowded dancefloor until he is caught between people and reveals to him that she knows about him. Much to his horror, she pursues him and as he is caught between people, she stabs him repeatedly in the chest and leaves him to bleed out before taking off.
Back in Paris, knowing that Konstantin would be very angry at her, Villanelle set up her apartment to celebrate his birthday due to not knowing when it is regardless. As Konstantin arrives, Villanelle dresses up as him but only for him to tell her to stop, wanting to talk. After he opens up her presents, he reveals that he knows what she did in Berlin in regards of using Eve's name. Not being able to trust her again, Konstantin tells Villanelle that she will head to England for her next job to work with other assassins. As he leaves, she tells him to open his last present, which is stuffed toy animal for his daughter, horrifying him that she mores more about him than she let on. Before arriving in England, she sent Eve back her suitcase, instead carrying expensive clothes she brought along with a perfume labelled "La Villanelle" and a note saying "Sorry Babe x".
Arriving in England at a train station, she approaches Diego on the platform, who is her contact and tells her that the job would be tomorrow. After she gets into the van, she notices a familiar face in the passenger seat, who turned out to be Nadia. As Nadia attacks Villanelle and the two fight in the back of the van, Diego stops them and they return to their seats. On the way, Villanelle asks who the target is, only for Diego and Nadia to confess that they don’t know, only that it is a member of British Intelligence. The next day, the pull over to check their weapons. As Diego leaves for a moment, Nadia attacks her, prompting Villanelle to punch her in the nose. Diego returns and threatens that he has permission to kill one of them if they don't stop fighting. Arriving in Bletcham, they learn that the target's name is Frank Haleton and Diego hands them their weapons before going to the back of the house.
Nadia tries to attack Villanelle again, but the latter stops her, saying that she's glad she got out of prison. They head to the front and meet Frank's "mother" Veronica, introducing themselves as Natalie and Fanny. Inside, Veronica calls Frank and tells the two that he had just left for London and gives them fruitcake. During this, Villanelle already noticed Frank's car being parked out the back and secretly knows that he's still there. They leave and notify Diego, meaning that they had to wait. As Nadia went out the back, Diego and Villanelle waited at the front, only for Nadia to return chasing Frank escaping in his car. Getting back in the van, they chase Frank with Villanelle driving and Nadia shooting with a rifle, although Frank manages to survive and put some distance between him and them. The three approach his car and open fire on it, believing that he was now dead.
Afterwards, Villanelle provokes Diego and the two have a stand-off with Diego, prompting Nadia to call out her real name and hold her at gunpoint as well, revealing their history to Diego. Villanelle convinces Nadia that she was sent to get her, Nadia turns on Diego and shoots him dead. As the two plan their next destination, Villanelle started the car and as Nadia was putting Frank's stuff into the boot, Villanelle reverse the car over her and drives forward over her again, only for the car to not stall. After witnessing Frank trying to escape, Villanelle shoots at him with Nadia's rifle but after it runs out of ammo, she gives chase. As Villanelle chased him across the fields, Frank was picked up by Eve and Elena Felton, and as Eve noticed her, Villanelle shoots at them.
As Eve drives off with Frank and Elena, Villanelle gives chase and continues shooting at them. As she suddenly stops firing, Eve stops and gets out to confront her. Villanelle keeps her gun raised at Eve and takes aim, causing her to stop, placing one hand in the air and other across her chest. Villanelle then aims the gun under her own chin, making Eve scream "No!", only for Villanelle to laugh sadistically and shoot at Eve’s feet instead, causing her to duck and flinch. Villanelle then disappears. That night, Eve arrives home and unpacks her suitcase, deciding to wear some of Villanelle's perfume and try on the dress. As she hears a noise and calls for Niko, she checks the front door and turns around to find Villanelle across the hall. Villanelle urges her not to run, but Eve does anyway and runs upstairs and locks herself in the bathroom. Villanelle breaks in and pins a screaming Eve in the bathtub and turns on the water to calm her down. She then explains that she just wants to have dinner with her.
In the kitchen, Villanelle says she was happy for Eve to microwave the leftover shepherd's pie. Villanelle then helps her out of her wet dress, complimenting her body. As Eve gets silverware and a knife for protection, Villanelle says she can hold onto it if it makes her feel better. After Eve brings over the pie, she asks why she was there. Villanelle begins to sob, claiming that she is killing against her will and asks for help, but Eve calls her bluff and reveals that she knows her real name. Villanelle is intrigued and once Eve says to her that she is a psychopath, Villanelle mockingly pretends to be insulted. After Eve asks who she’s working for, Villanelle counters her question by saying that if she went high enough, they work for the same people. Eve then asks why she castrated a man, but Villanelle deflects the question, but after Eve asks why she killed Bill, Villanelle claimed that he was "slowing her down". Infuriated, Eve attempts to stab her but Villanelle steals it and pins her. After Niko arrives, Villanelle asks for her PIN, takes her phone and leaves.
She arrives at Frank's safehouse and corners him in the bathroom. She toys with him as he begs for his life, but is unsympathetic. After explaining her concept of death, Frank asks if she can kill him in the bedroom. Although she prefers the bathroom, Villanelle agrees and after Frank attacks her with a chair, she disarms him and makes him take off his clothes. She then castrates him, covers his wound with Eve's dress and leaves him to bleed out for Eve to find him. Returning to Paris, Villanelle lies to Konstantin about how Diego ran over Nadia twice and that she was forced to shoot and kill him. Konstantin then reveals to Villanelle that Nadia is alive and in Russia, and suggests that she kills her before she tells her side of the story. While being worried about running into Anna, Villanelle asks a horrified Konstantin what number he was in the Twelve, revealing that she now knows of their existence.
Return to Russia[]

~ Villanelle preparing to kill a terrified Nadia. |
Arriving in Russia, Konstantin goes over Villanelle's cover story while in prison, that she is "Natalia Popova" who has been imprisoned for stealing hats. Once she was in, she will need to see the doctor, kill Nadia and would collect her in a few days. As Villanelles says she will see Konstantin tomorrow, they meet the prison transport van and after she waves Konstantin goodbye, she climbs in. Once in prison, she changes into a prison uniform and undergoes a cavity search. After she makes a snide comment to the guard who then slaps her, she slaps her back, earning herself a beating from another guard. After she is taken to her cell, she requests the doctor, only to be denied. The next day, she requests the doctor again and was refused once more as she spots Nadia in the kitchen. She is taken to the bathroom and forced to unclog the drain with another inmate, Agniya, who was imprisoned for being spontaneously violent.
Walking around the courtyard, Villanelle spots Nadia in the distance and had Agniya punch her in order to get injured. She is taken to Dr. Marat's office, who recognizes her and instructs her that she will need to get herself into the hole by 9:00pm tomorrow and Konstantin would meet her there. He provides her Nadia’s location in Wing B, Cell 21 and gives her a blade. Villanelle and Agniya are in the food line, in which Agniya keeps bothering her. After Villanelle drops her blade on the ground, Agniya picks it up and refuses to give it back just as they arrive at the counter and Nadia sees Villanelle. Nadia panics and runs, throwing pottery at her. As Villanelle pursues her with Agniya behind her, she makes the guards believe that Agniya is really chasing after her. Villanelle sets it up so Agniya ends up stabbing a guard trying to stop them and she palms the knife. Nadia escapes out the kitchen as another guard tries to calm Agniya down. Villanelle stabs her from behind and steals her keys.
Villanelle makes her way to Nadia's cell but finds her not there. Knowing she would be returned to her cell at some point, Villanelle hides under her bed until she returns, in which she eventually did. As Nadia wrote a note for Eve Polastri, Villanelle revealed herself to a terrified Nadia, who says that Konstantin is helping the British trying to get them both out. Villanelle then hugs a sobbing Nadia as she begs, and after she briefly turns away, Nadia slips a note under the door. Villanelle notices and then quickly butchers her, and as the guards notice the pool of blood and open the door, Villanelle screams "Take me to the hole!". Now placed in the hole, Dr. Marat visits Villanelle and gives her pills to calm her down. After Villanelle asks where Konstantin was to get her out, he asks "Konstantin who?" and leaves her to shout for her release.
Stuck in prison, Villanelle is allowed outside for exercise. She tries bribing and threatening her guard into giving her a phone call, only for her to restrain her and take back inside to the hole where she now had a new roommate, Inga. Villanelle would taunt a motionless Inga, who remained unresponsive. Villanelle raps on her cell door and asks the guard for a phone call, only to be refused and warned not to fall asleep around Inga. Villanelle starts pacing and fidgeting in her cell as Inga remained motionless. After Villanelle eventually fell asleep, Inga gets up, works a razor blade out of her mouth and tries to attack Villanelle. However, Villanelle instantly wakes up, blocks her and climbs on her back before viciously biting her neck. She is dragged off by the guards, saying that she had a visitor, while Inga bleeds to death. The visitor turns out to be Carolyn, who had wanted to meet with her and offered her a place in MI6 so she can get out of prison, which she refused.
During her transport to the courthouse, the van is stopped as the guards outside are being killed by multiple assailants. One of the guards in the van shoots the other and uncuffs Villanelle. After getting out, Villanelle tells Agniya that she is free. However, after Agniya says that she would rather die than be free, Villanelle signals one of the assailants to kill her and then gets onto the back of a motorcycle and is taken to a distant building. Being directed upstairs, she meets Anton, who is taking over from Konstantin as her new handler. He gives her a Moscow postcard and a suitcase of clothes for her, saying that she has until tomorrow to complete the job and meet him back there. After being given a gun, Villanelle, finding Anton's personality irritating, shoots him in the dead. She then sits down at the laptop to look up the postcard’s information of her next target: Konstantin. The visitor turns out to be Carolyn, who had arranged for her to be taken to the court
As she explains that his family is in a cupboard, Villanelle tells Konstantin that she was sent to kill him and that her new handler was dead. She then allows him to die with a glass of whiskey and pills. As he gets them, he explains to her that he conspired with the British to get out of prison, but the Twelve, wanting her to stay locked up because of her constant insubordinations, found out and marked him as a traitor. After Villanelle asks for the Twelve's names, Konstantin tells her that a handful of people referred to as "Keepers" are entrusted with their names, but he isn't one of them and doesn't know anyone who is. As she orders him to take the pills, he emotionally tells her that he loves her, claiming that she is the best thing that happened to him and the organization because of how powerful and strong she is. After she tells him to take more, he ambushes her with his glass and hits her in the head with a log. As Villanelle struggles to get up, Konstantin runs to his boat while she pursues and shoots at him. As he escapes, she threatens to skin his family alive. She then takes Irina hostage and leaves the kid's mother, claiming that she's too big.
Villanelle walks down a road with Irina, who won’t stop talking, which irritates Villanelle enough to pull out a gun on her and tell her to shut up. The two get into a shouting match and Irina says she will stop shouting for food, in which Villanelle agrees to provide her with. After a car comes up, the two put their thumbs up for a ride in the vehicle into town. In town, the two get food and eat on a bench. The two talk with each other, which includes about speaking languages, in which Villanelle learns Irina can also speak Spanish, German and Mandarin as well as English, and also about what it's like being a bad person. The two then leave to go see Anna at her apartment.
They arrive at Anna's and Villanelle makes Irina appear to be a girl lost and without her parents so she can distract her inside. Not wanting to confront Anna, Villanelle sneaks inside while Irina keeps her occupied. Villanelle goes into her room and finds the coat she sent Anna, hoping to find the money and passport she stored in there so she can get back to Paris. However, she finds it empty and with a note from Eve saying "Sorry baby", impressing Villanelle. All of a sudden, Anna calls Villanelle by her real name, having been alerted by Irina. Holding Anna at gunpoint, she demands Eve's phone number, but agrees to Anna's plea to treat her wounds. In the living room, as Villanelle recalls their affair in the apartment, Anna pulls out a gun on her, wanting revenge for killing Maxi. However, Villanelle knows she can't do it, prompting Anna to shoot herself. She then leaves with Irina and Anna’s phone and money.
Later, Villanelle has Irina steal money from people, while Irina decides she Villanelle is a good person because she is sad. Villanelle then phones Eve with Anna's phone, setting up a meeting at Café Radozhny. The two of them wait until Eve and Konstantin arrive, and after they do, Villanelle holds Irina at gunpoint. Eve pulls out a gun on Villanelle, but Villanelle calls her bluff. Eve then puts the gun down and hands over Villanelle's passport and money. When asked what she wants, Villanelle says she wants to do her job and then later on shoots Konstantin in the stomach. After Irina escapes Villanelle's grasp, Eve and Villanelle have a stand-off, where Eve calls her "Oksana" and asks her to come with her, just the two of them. Villanelle backs away and flees with her passport and money. She then travels all the way back to Paris.
On the Run[]
“ | Gabriel: What if she stabs you again? Villanelle: She won't. Gabriel: How do you know? Villanelle: I know her better, now. I know her better than anyone. Better than she knows herself. |
„ |
~ Gabriel and Villanelle, who claims that she knows Eve better now that she's stabbed her. |
Villanelle arrives at her apartment to find it trashed. Eve then reveals herself and accuses her for making her lose both of her jobs, her husband and best friend. Villanelle says she got nice clothes out of it though, and calls Eve's bluff about shooting her, claiming that she likes her too much do it. The two then sit down and confess to each that they think about each other all of the time and that Villanelle wants a normal life, and then they lay down next to each other on the bed, exclaiming how tired they both were. Villanelle promises she won't kill her and they turn on their sides to face each other. Eve then pulls a blade out and then stabs her in the stomach, saying she can do it before rolling Villanelle onto her back and straddling her. However, she instantly regrets it and pulls it out before going to find some first aid. An enraged Villanelle shoots at her before escaping, much to Eve's distress.
As Eve attempted to find her, Villanelle was hiding in a nearby spot as he helplessly watches a cleanup crew sent by the Twelve takes all of her stuff from the apartment and tell their employers that they'll find and kill her. Knowing that she's being hunted, she then careens through the streets, bleeding and using a homeless man's alcohol bottle to pour on her stab wound. Eventually, she finally manages to stop a cab by throwing herself in front of it, prompting the panicking driver take her to the hospital, in which she successfully arrives. After a few hours, she wakes up from surgery and convinces the doctor to keep her out of the system, claiming that she was stabbed by her husband who is a police officer.
She finds it difficult to stand up while on medication, and also makes friends with the patient in the bed next to her, a heavily-bandaged kid named Gabriel Michel who was in a car accident that killed his parents. She convinces him to help her steal an I.D. and a lab coat, which after she is finally able to stand, uses to raid the hospital's supply room for medication. During this time, she lies to a woman who was visiting her critically-ill husband that he was improving. After she outfits herself in Gabriel's spare set of pyjamas and stolen shoes from the nurse's station, she agrees to do a favor for him by peeling off his bandages to see how bad his injuries are. She does so and doesn't mince words, claiming that he looked like a pizza and that he lost an eye.
As Villanelle packs all of her medication into a bag for her journey to London, she stays just long enough to have a final chat with Gabriel, claiming that she knows "her girlfriend" better now, maybe more than anyone else. Gabriel starts to cry, claiming that his face makes him look like a monster and wants to be normal again, wishing that he had died in the accident that killed his parents. She gives him a hug and then, probably out of a merciful sympathy, snaps his neck, killing him and leaves an apple with bite mark next in his hand. She then tricks the receptionist at the entrance so she can escape from the hospital to get away from the Twelve's grasp. She then stows herself away into the back of an English family's mini-van for the long journey to London. As night falls, she stares into the dark, thinking of Eve.
Arriving in England the next morning, Villanelle exits the back of the vehicle while only arousing suspicion from one of the waking children who spot, but she was able to stop her with a quick "Shh". However, while sleeping at a laundromat, Villanelle's medication is stolen, leaving her gaping stab wound open to all kinds of infections. Needing help, Villanelle goes to a grocery store for supplies, hoping to trick someone into taking them home. Eventually, she meets and convinces a man named Julian, to take her home and him to save her from her made-up abusive step-father. He brings her home, which is filled with porcelain dolls belonging to his aging mother. However, she then notices him behaving weirdly, such as locking the windows and doors and becoming increasingly possessive of her, while at the same time refusing to get her the medication she needs.
Villanelle is left alone for brief moments at a time. During one of them, Julian's mother warns her that although he is a "good boy", she is to be careful of him. Villanelle, however, is unsure if that's the dementia talking or if is a genuine warning about what her son is capable of. Regardless, Villanelle does well to heed the warning, especially when his behavior goes from creepy to downright psychotic when he realizes that she was trying to make a phone call. The first time, she attempted to call the Twelve, but they refused to help her. Then, she tried to make contact with Eve, but the automated MI6 answering machine couldn't recognize the name through her heavy accent. However, Julian interrupts the call, and takes the whole phone out of the wall in response.
While Villanelle initially tries to cover her tracks by saying she that was ordering him a surprise cake, she then abruptly breaks character and launches a full-on attack on Julian. Julian is able to get in a few jabs, including a close call via strangulation. But, it's of course Villanelle who emerges victorious when she uses a knitting needle to stab Julian into his neck, saying it's what he gets. After she shoves a toiler brush down Julian's throat, she exits the house, where there's a car waiting for her, but it's not Eve. It's her new handler Raymond Algaron, and he is not as charmed by her as Konstantin. "Circumstances have changed", he tells her. He locks Villanelle in the car with the coveted antibiotics and drives her away. As Villanelle remains weak from her wound and the medications, she notices Eve arriving at the scene.
Joining Konstantin[]

After some time re-cooperating, Villanelle was back into business as the Twelve's assassin. However, she hated her first kill because rather than killing with the flourish and flare she would usually perform, Raymond had her murder Greg Richardson with a simple strangulation, via pulling his tie a set of closing elevator doors and holding tight as he rises. She returns to her hotel room to find a note from Raymond not to leave her room. He arrives later to chide her for not being boring enough with her murder. He also taunts Villanelle about the presence of another assassin that Eve has become interested in and not her. Enraged, Villanelle picks up a phone and calls Niko's school posing as a student making a complaint about him, all in order to get Eve's attention.
After doing so, she hatches a plan when she stakes out Niko's school and sees a colleague named Gemma getting flirty with him in the courtyard. With some dry pasta, flowy pants and a dash of glitter, Villanelle disguises herself as a kooky art teacher and crashes the drinks event. Raymond catches on and tries to stop her, but Villanelle sneaks in and finds Gemma on the stairwell, smoking and feeling distressed about her feelings for Niko. Villanelle encourages Gemma to do in her power, no matter how manipulative, to seduce Niko and break him up with Eve. This move is part of her overall plot to ruin Eve's marriage and leave her single, therefore making her available for Villanelle. Their conversation is interrupted by the fire alaram, and just as Niko leaves Eve alone for a moment, Villanelle approaches her from behind but leaves at the last moment.
Back at the hotel, after a stern phone call from Raymond about all of the clothes she's buying, Villanelle is informed by the receptionist about a new guest moving into the hotel. Fearing trouble, Villanelle heads up with her knife, only to see Konstantin at the end of the hallway in his own room. She charges at him and embraces, much to his surprise, especially since the last time they saw each other, she tried to kill him. After asking how's life now, she lies and says Raymond is the best. Konstnatin, however, informs her that Raymond is only assigned to assassins on their last legs, and that it's his job to kill them like retired horses. He opts for her to work with him in freelance, but tells her that MI6 would be arriving in five minutes.
Villanelle calls bullshit, but then she hears a group of people bust open her door down the hall. After Konstantin says that there's a lot of money in freelance, this convinces Villanelle to agree. After seeing Eve through the door's peephole, prompting Eve to quickly realize she was in there through some unspoken connection. However, Villanelle and Konstantin escape just before MI6 kick down the door. During their escape via Konstantin's car, Villanelle merrily listens to Roxette's "Listern to Your Heart" on the radio. However, her mood sours when Konstantin echoes Raymond and informs her that Eve's attention is on an assassin called the Ghost. This unsurprisingly fills her with jealousy, prompting her to change that whatever it takes.
Growing Jealousy[]
“ | Villanelle: How is your daughter, Konstantin? Do you think she will okay without her father to protect her? Konstantin: She'll be fine. She's strong. Stronger than you, maybe. I think Eve Polastri has made you go a little soft. |
„ |
~ Villanelle conversing with Konstantin, who expresses his correct belief that meeting Eve has made her soft. |
It's the start of Villanelle's new life as a freelance assassin and she's immediately bored, not even enjoying the beautiful views of Amsterdam. This is because they're far away from Eve, and so Konstantin takes her to a museum for inspiration to use in her upcoming job. She is unsurprisingly unimpressed with the artwork, but is then drawn to the brutal painting of men hung upside down with their stomachs cut open, claiming that they look like bacon. Full inspired, Villanelle buys a postcard of the painting and sends it to Eve, writing a message to implore her not to forget about her. During this, she identifies her target: Markus Drayer, who his wife secretly hired to kill because of his adultery ways.
During lunch, she eats hagelslag and trips over a nearby woman when Konstantin claims that Eve has made her a little soft. That night, Villanelle dons a tutu and a pig mask to lure Markus into a private room in the Red Light District, making him think he's in for some B.D.S.M. She then ties him up and opens the blinds for everyone to see, including his wife. She then cuts his stomach open, making the final scene look like the painting. Once the deed is done, Villanelle is not satisfied and assumes they can go "home", meaning London. Konstantin urges her to forget about Eve, claiming that she's forgotten about her. Frustrated, Villanelle heads back to the District, watching the crime scene unfold and hoping that Eve would arrive.
However, she didn't turn up and this leaves Villanelle heartbroken. Now taking a downward spiral, Villanelle follows a whim, buying drugs from a man on the street and enters a nightclub after taking them. Things get worse as while waiting in line for the restroom, she attacks and nearly kills a girl for cutting the line. However, Konstantin arrives just in time to stop her and pull her off, taking her back to the hotel. The next morning, she wakes up hungover while Konstantin is still asleep on the floor. As she heads into the bathroom, she bursts into tears as she fears the Eve has forgotten about her and is no longer interested in her. She also starts laughing in joy as she realizes she feels emotion, something she hasn't felt for a long time.
Working with MI6[]
“ | Villanelle: You could have killed me. Eve: I know. I think about that all the time. Villanelle: Really? Eve: Do you think about it? Villanelle: All the time. |

~ Villanelle and Eve reuniting, professing that they think about what happened in Paris all the time. |
After Amsterdam, Villanelle is back on her feet and performing another successful mission that involved a strawberry milkshake and murdering in a car wash. Later, as suggested by Konstantin, Villanelle uses her spare time to stare down statue impersonators in the hopes of making them flinch. The next day, while Konstantin is being sneaky about it, she is given a new target by an unknown contractor: Eve Polastri. Villanelle thinks it is some kind, but it isn't and she immediately refuses, only for Konstantin to remind her that it is her job and that Eve has made her weak.
Reluctantly agreeing and preparing for the most conflicting murder of her life, Villanelle goes into preemptive mourning, ordering room service champagne and making a hotel employee stroke her hair. She later buys box of flowers patterned in Eve's name and sends it to her. Alongside Konstantin, she buys a gown for funerals, and dresses up for her upcoming mourning of Eve's death.
That night, she arrives at Eve's home, ready to kill her victim, and Eve had her take her shoes and veil off. The two banter to make up for lost time, and talk coyly about their fears of the other had forgotten them. Neither apologize to the other about what happened in Paris, but both thought about it all the time. Eve comes clean that she put the hit out on herself in order to see her for help, but Villanelle says she must do her job. She hands Eve "cyanide pills", who takes them, thinking she was calling her bluff. Villanelle however double bluffs by saying that it was arsenic, thinking she would never take them. As Eve runs to the sink, Villanelle bursts into laughter. She then holds a knife to Eve and accepts Eve's plea, demanding that she gives her whatever she wants.
Eve takes Villanelle to interrogate the Ghost, who had been taken into the Forest of Dean and place in a container after she wouldn't reveal her contractor. Eve gives the Ghost one last chance to reveal who hired her to kill Alister Peel, but she remains silent. Eve sends Villanelle in to make her talk. After some time without knowing how she did it, Villanelle got the answers Eve wanted. His son Aaron Peel had him killed because he wants to sell a weapon. Eve, who is uncomfortable with what she allowed happen, doesn't thank her, prompting a displeased Villanelle to leave. She then meets Niko in Oxford, apologizing for the fake complaints, saying she only wanted Eve's attention but taunts that she doesn't care about his life at all. After he initially attacks her, Villanelle continues to fracture their marriage before she leaves by revealing that they are colleagues now and that Eve stabbed her, which is something Eve never told Niko.
After meeting Niko in Oxford, Villanelle followed him home and watches from the window as he engages in kinky sex with Eve, knowing that it along with what she told Niko will make him uncomfortable with their marriage. The next day, bored as ever, Villanelle breaks into Eve's house and essentially messes with all of her stuff, such as rearranging CDs and using her toothbrush before leaving. She is then visited by Eve, who wants to hire her to get close to Aaron without killing him. Since Aaron is a paranoiac, Villanelle has to befriend his sister Amber, who is at AA meetings in London. Villanelle tries out different characters, but then chooses "Billie", a New Yorker with a "really, really, really annoying accent".
During a meeting with Carolyn, Villanelle must not break character, due to the assumption that Aaron is spying on Amber. She also Eve to be professional when she fangirls over the tech they'll be using. Before the operation, Villanelle tries to goads Eve into giving up her marriage with Niko, saying that he's "too normal" for her. Under the alias of "Billie Marie Morgan" that has pink hair and has many philosophy degrees but is without a job, Villanelle goes to the AA meetings but didn't read the profile Eve prepared, which leads to her getting called out for being disingenuous. It didn't help when she stole Eve's personal troubles almost word-for-word, which doesn't go over well. Although Amber seems sympathetic and talks to her, her handler Marie extracts her and takes her home.
In the next meeting, Villanelle decides to speak from the heart. She expresses about her boredom and her inability to feel anything and enjoy life, which really strikes a chord with the group. In fact, it almost prompts Amber to invite her over to her house, but once again, she's interrupted by Marie, who warns her against forming associations and forcefully ends the conversation. Villanelle quickly comes up with a solution around dealing with Marie and getting to Aaron. As she approaches Marie and hugs her to put her off, she quickly pushes her in front of an oncoming truck. As she coldly stares at Eve, who was watching in horror from a distance, she embraces a saddened Amber. Later, she sends a text to Eve that included emojis regarding what she did, before receiving an invite text from Amber for supper.
Armed with a bug and an earpiece to help her through answer basic philosophy questions due to not reading any of the research, Villanelle arrived at Peel's home in Richmond, London for supper. She ignores Eve and Konstantin through the earpiece, especially when she was caught snooping around Aaron's trick bookcase, and eventually stuffs it into her food and eats it. As Aaron doesn't like Villanelle and taunts her throughout dinner and their card game with Amber afterwards about not knowing much about philosophy despite her degrees, Villanelle calls him a bully and hits him in the face with a book before leaving their home furiously. She heads to a local kebab shop before noticing and following two women into the dark of a local train station and after she meets them and acts innocent, she escorts them back to her home to have sex.
The next morning, while Villanelle is making breakfast, she hears the doorbell and finds that one of Aaron's people leaves her an apology of sorts, along with a dictionary of philosophy and a request to join him for lunch. As she reads the book, she explains to a world-weary Eve about the lunch, to which Eve asks if she meant what she said in the AA meetings. As she doesn't know if she means it, she admits that she feels things when Eve's around, and after her two dates leave, whose names Villanelle couldn't remember, Eve leaves in a foul mood, and tells her to read the profile and get them to Rome, annoying Villanelle to the point that she doesn't read it.
Villanelle arrives at the restaurant, to which she finds that Aaron had booked the entire place for just the two of them. After he watches her eat pasta, she asks why she befriended his sister Amber, thinking that it has something to do with his money. The interrogation then goes from paranoid to sexual, as when he asks what she likes about money, she explains that she really likes money and that she likes buying and owning all kinds of things, and that they make her feel something. Having become interested in her more than before, Aaron asks Villanelle to come with him to Rome for his conference, in which she accepts on the condition that they never touch each other. She returns home to find a bunch of voicemails from a worried Eve about how the lunch went, all of which she enjoys listening to.
While Eve believes she can keep Villanelle under control and for killing people, it secretly proves to be difficult. Villanelle follows Niko and Gemma as they move his things into a storage unit, and after she reveals herself to them, she interrogates Niko for the recipe to his Shepherd's pie so she can make it for Eve. After he does so, he makes them sit down and asks Niko about who he loves: Eve or Gemma. After he answers that he loves Eve because she's his wife, Villanelle is not pleased with this answer. Knowing that Eve wouldn't forgive her if Niko died, she knocks him out and kills Gemma by wrapping a plastic bag on her head with tape, and locks him in the unit, presumably in the hopes of driving Niko for vengeance and ruins the marriage even more. She later packs up for Rome and is notified by Konstantin that the safe word is "Gentleman" and that if something goes wrong, she and Eve are on their own.
Assignment in Rome[]

~ Villanelle refusing to leave Eve, especially after she realizes that Konstantin and Carolyn have betrayed them. |
Villanelle arrives in Rome, but only to find that Aaron had not just given her own room, but also some clothes of his choice. She also doesn't have the luggage she brought and cannot have access to her microphone, and that Aaron is watching her in her room via camera surveillance. Luckily, Eve suspected something was and slipped Villanelle backup mic while she and Aaron were at a restaurant. Later, Villanelle wears a belt, to which Aaron doesn't approve and demands that she take it off. Upon his demands, she sits through the dinner bored while he explains the weapon to the potential buyers. During dinner, he reveals that it is in fact a cyber weapon that can gain access to any piece of information about someone by simply typing anybody's name.
After dinner, Aaron start connecting Villanelle after he explains that he looked her up as "Billie Marie Morgan", and only found nothing, calling her a void just like him. He continues by saying that she's the only person in the world that he knows nothing about, which makes her interesting to him. Knowing that Eve was getting jealous, she gets into bed and talks to her directly, telling her to "let herself go once in a while". This prompts Eve to approach her colleague Hugo and have sex with him, with Villanelle in her ear the entire time. The next morning, she flirtatiously asks Eve if she slept well, knowing what was happening that night.
The next morning, Villanelle walks around Aaron's property and finds his secret surveillance, where she finds videos of recorded deaths that were arranged and created by Aaron himself. She then gets dressed and meets with Aaron in the dining room, who is going through information of potential buyers who are coming, and after he shows her one, it turns out to be Raymond on behalf of the Twelve. Knowing that she was in trouble, Villanelle refers him as a "weird-looking gentleman", intentionally triggered the safeword and alerting Eve. After Eve arrives, Villanelle reveals her true self to Aaron and her knowledge of the videos, to which he then offers her a job if she kills Eve. Not wanting to do that, Villanelle slits Aaron's throat and makes him watch as he bleeds out. After heading outside, Villanelle reveals about Raymond being in town and it prompts Eve to panic, only for Villanelle to slap her to calm her down.
They then head to the hotel, and although Villanelle objects to the idea, she reluctantly agrees to get the getaway car while Eve gets the footage of Aaron's plot, not wanting it all to be for nothing. As Villanelle looks for a car, one unlocks and Konstantin reveals himself, who tells her to leave and that Raymond knows she is there because somebody told him and asked him to killed he if she killed Aaron. Villanelle then realizes that it was Carolyn who did it and that Konstantin was in on it so he could reunite with his family. He urges her to leave, while defending his actions that it's what families do, and that *most* of Villanelle's family is dead. Villanelle refuses to leave her, saying that they are the same and as he leaves, she vows to him that she'll find and kill him and his family, despite his doubts.
Villanelle waits in the car for Eve to arrive, but she doesn't and this worries her. Heading up into the hotel, to her horror, she finds Raymond waiting for her while wielding an axe. He expresses about how much he has been thinking about killing her, including around his wife and kids, and after she suggests that his children must be ugly, he agrees that they are. After Villanelle insults him by asking why would the Twelve send a nobody to meet with Aaron, he puts down the axe and denies that he's a nobody. After Raymond mocks Eve that he'll kill Eve *if* he finds her, Villanelle angrily attacks her, only for Raymond to overpower her and strangle her. As he nearly kills her, Eve arrives with the axe and although Raymond doubts she'll use it, Eve hits him in the shoulder. After Villanelle regains her breathe and holds him down, Villanelle provokes Eve into chopping at him, smiling gleefully as she watches.
She then takes Eve's jacket off and escorts her out before more of the Twelve's minions come. Villanelle takes her downstairs and out the back to avoid the Twelve's minions. Eve is visibly shaken by what happened and Villanelle escorts her through Rome until they reach the entrance to caverns to lose some men following them. They go through the caverns, which eventually end up at Roman ruins. As they walk through the ruins, Villanelle explains to Eve that they can go to Alaska, saying that she'll take care of her. After Villanelle pulls out her gun out when birds startle her, Eve realizes that she wanted her to kill Raymond as she could've used it to kill him. She explains that she wanted her to know how it felt, but Eve becomes an emotional mess, not wanting to go with her. Villanelle tries to change Eve's mind, proclaiming that she loved her, and as Eve doubted she knew what love was, Villanelle becomes upset and shoots Eve before walking away and leaving her lying on the floor for dead.
Return to the Twelve[]

~ Villanelle revealing what she really wants if she is to work for the Twelve again. |
Six months after the events in Rome, Villanelle has moved on from Eve and has settled down in Spain, feeling better now that her "ex-girlfriend" was dead. She was even in middle of marrying a Spanish woman named Maria, claiming that she was so much happier now during her wedding speech. However, during the ceremony, she had noticed Dasha in the distance and remembering her vow to kill her because of her betrayal, she angrily charges at her and tackles her to the floor, saying that she wasn't going to ruin her special day. This fight caused all of the guests to argue and Maria to scream in horror after she tried to stop the fight, sending the ceremony into chaos. Because of what she did, the wedding ended and Villanelle and Dasha were sent away. They were taken to Dasha's residence in the back of a limousine that was originally intended for the former and her bride-to-be after the ceremony, as it said "Just Married" on the back.
At Dasha's residence in Barcelona, Dasha explains to Villanelle that she and the Twelve have been watching her since Rome, and that it wasn't easy to replace her due to her fearsome skillset. Dasha offers Villanelle to rejoin the Twelve's operations once more, but Villanelle is unconvinced, not trusting her or the Twelve due to what happened with Raymond. However, Dasha offered her anything she wanted since the Twelve would allow her to go back to Russia if she could her working for them again. Sick of being a pawn in everyone's game and always being the hired gun, Villanelle reveals she wants to be a Keeper as she desires to move up in the world. Dasha initially laughs at the idea, possibly due to it sounding impossible, but after they have a brief confrontation, she reluctantly agrees.
After joining Dasha in one of her gymnast classes and posing as one of her former students, Dasha explains to Villanelle that the Twelve are open to the idea of her becoming a Keeper but she first must prove her loyalty. Although she doesn't believe it be a yes despite Dasha's insisting claims that they will promote her, Villanelle agrees to perform some assassinations for them in order to regain their trust. She heads to Girona whilst disguised as a delivery person and makes her way into a spices shop, with its owner being her target. Villanelle tells the owner that her grandfather is sick, tricking her into climbing onto a ladder to get something off the top shelf. Villanelle then pulls it and drops her off, later using a jar to beat her to death as she tried to fight back. Before heading out, she empties a back of spices onto her face, mimicking one of Dasha's previous kills.
A week after her successful assignment, Villanelle was given a mansion located in Barcelona to live in by Dasha. She heads over to inspect it, in which it had a high ceiling, good lighting, lots of space and excellent running water, which was everything she asked for. As she insepcts the furniture, Dasha arrives and Villanelle tells her that it was perfect after she was promised the best. The two of them later have lunch together in the city. After Villanelle sees a beautiful woman walk by, she says that the neighborhood was nice, in which Dasha says it's nice to have lovers but she has to remember that they are different from everyone else and cannot have normal relationships. Dasha tells her not to go down that path again like she did with Eve, and Villanelle maintains that she "dealt with it". Dasha says that the Twelve are happy with her work and she was touched by the homage to her own work. They now want her to work with someone first before she is to be promoted, and must oversee a new recruit and give him orders if she is to prove that she's up to the job.
Later, Dasha explains to Villanelle that she'll be mentoring Felix Telep, an assassin recruit who apparently has real potential. She will have to guide him, make sure that his plan is clean and his character work is strong; much like how Dasha mentored her before. If he is terrible, she has to encourage him to do better. Villanelle is not convinced, but Dasha tells her that being a Keeper takes patience and responsibility, neither of which she has. Dasha however believes in her. At a bus stop in Côte d'Azur, she meets Felix and isn't convinced due to his youthful appearance and asked him who he killed, in which it was the entire family and dance teacher of a kid who bullied him and beat up his boyfriend, who left him afterwards in horror. Convinced, Villanelle takes him with her to a kid's birthday party while dressed as clowns to get close to their target. She orders him to kill him exactly as she instructs. After some time, she goes to see his progress, in which he was beating him up in the bathroom and was still alive. Not tolerating his failure, she executes them both and leaves immediately.
She later returns to her mansion and afterwards. Upon unpacking her supplies, she finds Konstantin waiting for her. Still angry for his betrayal in Rome, she throws stuff at him and kicks him in his crotch, saying he's not welcome to visit unexpectedly anymore. He says he missed her and disbelieves her claims that she's becoming a Keeper thanks to Dasha, but Villanelle explains that she trusts Dasha more than him and if she did kill everyone who betrayed her, there would be no one left. He tries to tell her that since she's back with the Twelve, she's not in control and that Eve was still alive. She doesn't believe him since she shot her, but he explains that she didn't check the body. She goes numb as he tells her not to go back to London and she orders him to leave, but not after he reveals that he never stopped working for the Twelve. After he leaves, she laughs in hysteria as the news sinks in.
London Reunion[]

~ Villanelle deciding what she wants her toy bear to say as her gift to Eve. |
After learning about Eve's survival, Villanelle started becoming unfocused and manic for several days out of excitement. She is then sent to kill Spanish pianist Isabel Fernandez, in which she posed as a piano tuner. In the mansion, Villanelle is tuning the piano to trick Isabel, who asked her to be careful. After Isabel leaves, Villanelle pulls out her tuning fork which has a sharp blade on the other end, where she sneaked up behind her and threw it into her head, killing her. After hearing a baby crying over a monitor, she finds it being handled by a nanny, who desperately begged her to let them go. Curious as to why she would protect someone else's baby, she killed the nanny and kidnapped the child. She is later having lunch with the baby and Dasha, who then placed the child in a nearby bin and then gives Villanelle her next assignment: London.
Arriving in Mayfair, London, Villanelle headed into a perfume store, wanting to smell powerful due to being on the cusp of possibly becoming a Keeper. Inside, she tells the perfumer that she wants to smell powerful, like a Roman centurion who's coming across an old foe who hurt him greatly in battle once, but since then, the Roman centurion has become emperor and is now powerful beyond measure. Later, she is seen in a toy shop where she learns that she can make a talking bear. In the recording booth, she tries a few lines like saying that she should've made sure that she was dead. However, she then records that she can't stop thinking about her. She then leaves the talking pink toy bear at Eve's apartment under her bed for her to find, where the toy would constantly say "Admit it, Eve. You wish I was here."
She later sees Eve on a double-decker bus and hops onboard, heading to the top floor and approaches her after many months apart. After Villanelle says hello to Eve, the latter angrily attacks her in front of all the other bus passengers, possibly out of anger for shooting her. After Eve continues attacking her, Villanelle tells her she isn't in London for her and pins her on a seat and asks her to smell her, only for Eve to kiss her unexpectedly. As Villanelle processes this, Eve headbutts her and forces her to retreat. Being happy with this, Villanelle then posed as a police officer and watches Carolyn and her protege Mo Jafari waiting for Charles Kruger, the assassin's target. After seeing that they've picked him up, she follows them and then pulls them over. She then heads over and shoots Charles dead while scraping Carolyn's head.
That night, Villanelle is watching the news in Konstantin's apartment and learns that Isabel's baby has been reunited with its father, to which Villanelle notes that he is very happy and decides that she wants to find her own remaining family. She hides in Konstantin's bed and playfully scares him after he gets in, much to his horror. After he explains that he has to find 6 million Euros, she notes that he won't find it unless he sold his kidneys and that the Twelve own all of him anyway. After she pushes for answer if she was cute as a baby, he reveals that he saw a picture and she was ugly, but doesn't remember who her family is. She demands his help to find them and although he is initially reluctant, he agrees to after she explains that she needs knowledge to keep powerful.
Finding Her Family[]
“ | Tatiana: You will not bring your darkness in this house. Villanelle: You are the darkness. You have always been the darkness. |

~ Villanelle confronting her mother Tatiana for emotionally abusing her before abandoning her as a child. |
After returning from London, Villanelle had a bakery send her a cake for her birthday. After that, she began taking up baking a cake. As she was stirring the frost while listening to music, Dasha visited her as she began decorating it, which turned up horrible. After Dasha confirmed that it tasted horrible too, she asks who she saw in London, and she admitted that it was Konstantin. Dasha explains that the Twelve want to meet with her to discuss her promotion, making her happy. After Dasha tells her to rest in the meantime and stay put, Villanelle does a victory dance and throws her terrible cake in the bin. She began shopping in Barcelona and as she started looking at a beautiful woman inside a fashion store, Konstantin scared her and stopped her from entering, taking her someplace private.
Inside a cable car, Villanelle questions Konstantin if he's upset that she'll be his boss soon, and as he questions her good mood, she answered that it was Eve's birthday. He then hands her information about her family and will find out where they are if he does a small favor for him off the record. Upon being asked to kill Kruger's widow Bertha, Villanelle posed as a gardener at their vacation home. After Bertha comes out, she tries to scare Villanelle since she had hiccups. After being chased around the garden, Villanelle plays along until they arrive at the greenhouse where she uses a hose to strangle her. Villanelle then calls Konstantin to notify him that it was done. Now, after Konstantin gave her the location of her family in Russia, she set out to find them, and she arrived by train but felt a strange feeling around her neck.
While continuing to travel through Russia's countryside, Villanelle arrived in Gryzmet where her family was located. She then arrived at a farmhouse and walked in while the door was still wide open. She walked through the house without anyone noticing and saw some of the pictures on the wall, which consisted of her mother. She was then noticed in the kitchen by a boy named Bor'ka who knew English, was an Elton John fan and her mother's youngest son. Then three other residents walked into the kitchen, who were Bor'ka's father Grigoriy (her mother's new husband), his son Fyodor and his girlfriend Yula. After they threatened to call the police, Villanelle's long-lost brother Pyotr walked in and recognized her immediately, much to the others' disbelief. Villanelle then waited in Bor'ka's bedroom while the others discussed if she's telling the truth and when Tatiana came home and saw her long-lost daughter, she instantly recognized her and burst into tears of joy, embracing Villanelle in the process.
Villanelle and her mother then sat down and they discussed how she burnt the orphanage down and they told them she was dead along with several others, and Pyotr showed them an album of family photos, including ones of her when she was little. The entire family then gathered around at the table that night and played a murder mystery game with playing cards, which was followed by a Elton John sing-along. The next day, Villanelle visited Pyotr at a shed and she noticed him savagely beating a couch with a piece of wood, who noted that he had serious anger issues. Upon him asking, Villanelle told him that they said her family died in a car crash, while being misleading on telling him her job. The two then went out for lunch, and she asks him why their mother needs him so much, saying that she knows her better than anyone. Back at the house, she laughs off Fyodor's flat-Earth beliefs and Yula's own about lizard people.
Villanelle then notices Bor'ka banging his head on the wall and then she goes outside to speak to Grigoriy, who explains that he's been married three times. She learns that Tatiana said she was a difficult child and that she still doesn't tell him everything, until Tatiana herself came outside with tea. She then brought Villanelle inside and showed her a dress she bought for her. The entire family then went to the harvest festival where Villanelle took part in some of the contests, including the dung throwing competition. While she openly expressed having fun and enjoying life there, she remained distrusting of her mother. That night at the festival, Villanelle and Bor'ka watch the others dancing, and they both say that they are bad at dancing. Bor'ka then kept hitting his head, saying that he'll never see an Elton concert and that after he lost at one of the contests he participated in, Tatiana came after him and said he was stupid. From this point, she realized that her was still the hypocritical abuser she remembered.
Wanting a confession, Villanelle lured her to the kitchen, while trying to make her laugh with tomato blood dripping from her eyes but to no avail, saying that she is not a child. Tatiana then revealed her cold self and refused to admit that they are the same. Villanelle admitted that she killed a lot of people but that she was once, but Tatiana claimed she was never happy and that her father loved her the most, saying that she controlled him and that he was afraid she would do something to them. Villanelle wanted her to admit that she is the same, only for Tatiana to order her out of the house. Realizing that she needs to die, Villanelle killed her, turned the oven on and left a lighter on. She also gave Bor'ka a chance to escape directing him to the barn where Pyotr was and left him money to go see Elton, and she left just as the house exploded. On the train back to Barcelona, she listened to music and began to cry out of remorse, whilst trying to hold them back.
Downward Spiral[]
After her disastrous family reunion, Villanelle met with high-ranking Twelve agent Hélène to discuss her promotion. After Helene gets off the phone with her daughter, she welcomes Villanelle and deems her remarkable while claiming that her daughter is only calling for her attention. She then congratulates Villanelle on her promotion and says she is officially a Keeper for the Twelve now, raising their champagne glasses to it. She then gives Villanelle an exciting job that will cause a big stir, a politician in Romania, and gives her a postcard. Realizing that this means she is continuing to pull off assassinations, Villanelle exclaims her thoughts that she would be giving the orders, not more of the same. Hélène reminds her that she'll get all the perks she wanted, telling her to enjoy Romania. This makes Villanelle realize that the Twelve were never going to actually give her a bit more leadership and betrayed her. Wanting out of the organization, Villanelle figure out that Konstantin is planning an escape and goes off to find him in Russia.
She meets with him while he's cheering Irina's ice hockey game, where he asks about her family reunion, and although she doesn't tell him, Konstantin figures out she killed her mother, but Villanelle defends herself, saying that she deserved it. Villanelle wants to know where he and Irina are going, but Konstantin says it's too dangerous for all of them to go together, prompting her to beg. He says he'll send for her but Villanelle, knowing Konstantin's history of lies, doesn't believe him and insists that the two of them go first and then he can send for Irina. He refuses but promises that she can join them, and warns Villanelle not to make anyone suspicious because she'll be dead the minute they find out, meaning that she has to play along with their demands. After Irina arrives and yells at her father for missing her goal, Villanelle tells her that Konstantin is a terrible father and that she should run away, before adding that she came to make travel arrangements. Irina refuses to come if she is joining them before going to get changed. Konstantin then points out that if Villanelle is getting out, she will leave everyone and everything, including Eve, which she already knew.
Knowing that she'll need to win over Irina and that she needs to work out where Konstantin is going if he back-stabs her, Villanelle heads to her school and sits at a nearby swing set, waving at her once she notices her. At the swing set, Irina tells her that her mother's boyfriend is really nice and not a pervert, despite Villanelle's initial beliefs. Villanelle then suggests they bunk off, promising Irina that it'll be fun and that she can choose what they're going to do. Irina suggests joyriding in a car, and they do so at an abandoned airstrip. Despite enjoying herself, Irina knows that Villanelle is trying to convince her to let her tag along with her and Konstantin, still refusing to let her. Villanelle then uses a different tactic, asking where her father is and Irina answers that he's in London. She then continues by saying it's annoying to be around two people who are in love, and that it's worse when the two people happen to be your own mother and her "disgusting" boyfriend. Villanelle suggests to Irina that she should kill him and that humidity in South America won't be kind to her hair, to which Irina corrects her that Cuba is in North America. Villanelle yells in joy, now knowing where the two were actually going.
Later in Romania, Villanelle is joylessly sitting on a bed in her hotel room, getting into her disguise. At a TV studio, the Romanian minister is backstage asking the hairdresser to fix his hair. The hairdresser is Villanelle, who claims the regular girl is out sick and as he begins to relax under the hood dryer, she crams the gel eye mask into his mouth to muffle his screams. As his head starts getting fried, he grabs the scissors from her apron and stabs her. As he then dies, Villanelle runs off and leaves behind a bloody footstep. At her hotel bathroom, Dasha arrives to find her lying on the floor and saying that she's done with this, now wanting out. Dasha asks about her meeting with Hélène, but Villanelle says that's not her real name and now that she's a Keeper, she can go back to Russia. Dasha counters that she won't be able to after this disastrous kill and then stitches up her wound for her. Once done, she asks what happened and Villanelle tearfully says she doesn't want to do this anymore. Dasha tells her to get herself cleaned up while she orders pizza.
