"Ace of spades!".
~ Vincent's quote after punching Phil Mitchell during their showdown.

Vincent Hubbard is a fictional character and one of the main characters of the BBC British soap opera EastEnders.

He serves as the secondary antagonist of 2015, a major anti-hero in 2016, one of the main protagonists of 2017-2018 and the overarching protagonist of 2021.

The character is portrayed by Richard Blackwood.

Biography[]

Vincent Hubbard first came to Albert Square in Walford, a fictional borough in East London, on February 2015. He was somewhat acquainted with local resident Ronnie Mitchell and visited her in hospital not long after her villainous father-in-law, Nick Cotton, was confirmed to have died. Beforehand he met Ronnie's cousin Phil Mitchell, the square's criminal kingpin who seems to recognize Vincent. It is then Phil warns his cousin, Billy, that Vincent is bad news.

It soon transpired that Vincent holds a grudge against the Mitchell family over the death of his late father Henry, who previously did criminal jobs with Phil's late father Eric Mitchell alongside fellow enemies Gavin Sullivan and Den Watts respectively. Believing that Eric killed his father, Vincent wanted to get payback against the Mitchells and begins to target both Phil and Ronnie respectively; Phil because he was Eric's son, whereas Ronnie had recently broken up with Vincent in their old relationship. As time went on Vincent sought to get one over Phil in their newfound quarrel, while at the same time he plans to get Ronnie jailed for the murder of nefarious extortionist Carl White back on New Year's Day 2014.

Later on it became clear that Vincent used to work as a police informant, and that he is also married to fellow neighbour Kim Fox. Their marriage seems promising despite some doubts from Kim's sister Denise. Soon enough Vincent's mother Claudette turns up and begins a relationship with Kim's father figure Patrick Trueman. Eventually, Vincent learned that his own mother was the one who killed his father during a confronation between them. Vincent attempted to strangle her to death in a fit of rage, but Patrick stopped him at the last moment.

Afterwards, Vincent was able to move forward from his grudge with his mother and the Mitchells. He resolved to settle himself with Kim, which is briefly threatened when he gets arrested for drug dealing; though it turned out that Phil's business rival, Max Branning, has framed Vincent for this as part of his scheme with his boss James Willmott-Brown and the latter's business company Weyland & Co to takeover the square as revenge for being wrongfully imprisoned for the murder of ex-wayward Lucy Beale - who in reality was murdered by her younger brother Bobby Beale.

On Christmas 2017, Vincent is offered by Phil and his partner-in-crime Aidan Maguire to do a heist with them; Vincent agrees along with pub landlord Mick Carter. The heist is successful until the money is extracted by Aidan's ex-wife Ciara Maguire. Then in 2018, Vincent learns that Aidan holds a grudge against him because he previously got Aidan's late brother sent to prison and in doing so caused the latter to die in his cell. Vincent eventually betrays Aidan at Phil's suggestion by reporting Aidan to the police for the murder of Willmott-Brown's son Luke Browning. Soon enough Vincent plans to escape the square with Kim. He gets into what appears to be a taxi, but in reality it is Aidan's henchmen who speed off with him; it turns out that Phil arranged for this to happen but insists that Vincent merely be "scared" into leaving Walford for good and not be killed. Vincent is last seen expecting the worst to come as he deduces that the people who kidnapped him are working for Aidan.

Three years later in 2021, it is revealed that Vincent had indeed been killed by Aidan.
