“ | Long live the king indeed. | „ |
~ Vinerse at the end of the tale The Cockroach on the Throne. |
“ | As said before, "vermin" was a common way to refer to him, but he saw himself as something different. The tales Snee spun of Humanoids and Humans held little interest for him, except for when she brought up Earth's cockroaches. Tiny yet resilient, they even outlived Ember Day, planetary armageddon, by stowing away on spacecraft. People might have deemed cockroaches insignificant and repulsive, but ultimately, they endured. Vinerse was the same: he was deemed lowly and vile by his peers but, in the end, always seemed to triumph over them. | „ |
~ The Cockroach on the Throne. |
Vinerse is a minor antagonist of the RPC Authority mythos' alternate canon Cosmic Embers. He is a particularly old Septed who served as Snee's right-hand man and the second-in-command of the Brothers and Sisters of the Soil before taking Snee's place as the first-in-command.
Personality[]
Vinerse is an opportunist who's ready to do more or less anything to obtain what he wants, even if it means serving someone else. He also demonstrates an incredible cruelty, having no qualms with torturing those that question his leadership.
Unlike most members of the Brothers and Sisters of the Soil he doesn't care for the Humanoids, instead believing in an ideology that might makes right and that the most avaricious earns survival.
Biography[]
Background[]
Sometime in the past, Vinerse created a planet inhabited by a peaceful species and that he deemed an utopia. Unfortunately, an unknown catastrophe destroyed the perfect world he had created. However, Vinerse soon found out that not everyone was dead: some of the aliens had survived, but they has become ruthless and savage opportunists, a far cry from the once loving and peaceful species they used to be.
Following this experience, Vinerse developed his current ideology and began creating worlds where he would have the inhabitants challenge each other for survival. His greatest achievement was Cif, a planet that transformed every living organism on its surface into soldiers and weapons.
One day he was invaded by Snee. In response to this, Vinerse gifted her some of his worlds and eventually became her second-in-command.
Becoming the leader of the Brothers and Sisters of the Soil[]
Following Snee's arrest by the hands of the GRPC after her failed attempt to reach GRP-112, Vinerse became the leader of the Brothers and Sisters of the Soil. Many however were unhappy with his leadership, especially since he wished to buy weapons from a species of cyborgs known as the Vuon Da, which would have gone against Snee's deep hatred for flesh mixed with technology; Vinerse responded to this by torturing anyone who questioned him with a powerful venom that would make them feel as if they were burning alive.
He obtained from the Vuon Da "guns designed to drain the life energy from their targets, reducing them to frigid shells".
