Vinson is a minor antagonist in HBO's The Wire.
He is portrayed by Norris Davis.
Biography[]
Background[]
Vinson is the owner of Rim Source II, a store that sells custom rims for cars. He gives advice to Marlo Stanfield and is one of the only people that Marlo trusts (alongside Chris Partlow and Snoop). Marlo uses his store as a meeting place and a bank of sorts for his ill-gotten gains.
Season 3[]
Vinson gives Marlo advise on how to handle his newly paroled rival Avon Barksdale. He tries to caution Marlo regarding his desire to wear the crown, stating that it's the path to death or incarceration, but Marlo rejects his advise because he doesn't care so long as he gets his time with the crown. Once Marlo gets in a turf war with the Barksdales, Vinson advises him on wartime maneuvers.
Vinson also functions as a middleman between Marlo and Proposition Joe during Joe's attempts to put an end to the turf war via negotiation. When Brother Mouzone returns to Baltimore to find Omar Little, Vinson tells Mouzone where to find Omar's boyfriend Dante.
Season 5[]
After Michael Lee becomes a rogue stick-up man, he and one of his friends start out by robbing Rim Source II. Vinson dismisses Michael as "just a boy" to which Michael shoots him in the kneecap and retorts by telling him "and that's just your knee."
