Viscount Pygman is the secondary antagonist of the anime Shin Mazinger Z: The Impact. He was originally a great shaman whose body started to go weak and was saved by Dr. Hell. He later went on to become Dr. Hell's subordinate.
Personality[]
Just like Baron Ashura and Count Brocken, Pygman is furiously loyal to Dr. Hell, faithfully carrying out his command and protecting him.
Pygman also seems to cared about his co-workers, as he cheered Baron Ashura up after Ashura was punished by Dr. Hell for failing. Pygman is also capable of manipulating others, as he came dangerously close to forcing Tsubasa to reveal the location of Zeus's Arm.
Unlike his comrades, Pygman didn't control any Mechanical Beast, instead, using his shaman magic and control over nature, creating illusions, or sending army of animals to attack enemies.
Biography[]
Pygman first appeared when Dr. Hell betrayed his fellow scientists and started to take over the Bardos Island. Pygman helped Dr. Hell in attacking Tsubasa and Juzo Kabuto.
Later, after Ashura's failure in trying to steal the Pilder, Pygman would show up when helping Ashura to escape from Tsubasa and Koji. Ashura warned Pygman that Tsubasa had the ability to make them unable to attack her, and thus, Pygman blinded himself, now not being able to see Tsubasa, Pygman was able to attack her and even threw a missile fired by Koji back to them with his shaman magic before Pygman helped Ashura escape. After Ashura was scolded by Dr. Hell for failing, Pygman tried to cheer Ashura up, only to be rejected by the latter. Pygman would then be present whenever Dr. Hell is talking with his subordinates about the events, but won't have any action.
Eventually, Dr. Hell discovered the Kedora and sent it to attack the Mazinger Z. However, Archduke Gorgon suddenly showed up and took over the control of Kedora and the Talos Giants while attacking Dr. Hell and his subordinates. Pygman generated a shield to block Gorgon's strike, and managed to buy enough time for Brocken to defeat Gorgon.
Later, Dr. Hell would sent Pygman and Brocken to obtain the Zeus's Arm and kill Tsubasa. Pygman, after rescuing the real Ashura, would take the form of Ashura to pretend betraying Dr. Hell and helped the heroes. Meanwhile, Pygman would create an illusions of Tetsuya, whom Tsubasa fought she had killed in order to lower Tsubasa's will to live while using his shaman magic to curse Tsubasa to make her slowly die, while also forcing Tsubasa to give up the location of Zeus's Arm. However, Pygman was caught by Tsubasa as Ashura was unconscious at that time. Pygman then attacked Tsubasa and was quickly defeated, revealing his true form of a white dwarf. He was then smacked aside by Shiro, and with that, Pygman escaped with Brocken when the Energer Z was going to explode.
During Dr. Hell's final attempt to attack the Photon Power Laboratory, Pygman would used his shaman abilities to create an army of animals to attack the Laboratory. He later tricked Yanosuke Yumi into lowering the laboratory's shield and attacked it. Yanosuke self-destructed the lab, but they all survived. As Pygman was cornering Yanosuke and other scientists with a large amount of his copies, Pygman's copies were all knocked away by Sayaka in her Venus Alpha. Then, Inspector Ankokuji and Gamia Q3 arrived and shot Pygman with bullet containing decomposing liquid, and Pygman then reverted into his true form. He tried to flee, only for Blade, who was heavily implied to be Tetsuya to slice Pygman's head apart, killing the shaman.
