Vishnu is a minor antagonist in the manga/anime series Record of Ragnarok and a minor character in its manga spin-off Record of Ragnarok Forbidden Legend - Apocalypse of The Gods.
He is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Brahma) of Shiva's Flashback during the Fifth Round and a supporting antagonist in the Fifth Round of the Ragnarok Tournament.
Vishnu is the Hindu God of Preservation and, when the Hindu Pantheon was divided into clans, an ally of Brahma with whom he lived together. After being defeated by Shiva and Rudra, Vishnu became a member of the assembled Hindu Pantheon as Shiva's subordinate.
He is voiced by Shuichi Uchida in the Japanese dubbed version of the anime adaptation. He is voiced by Maaz Ali in the English dub.
Appearance[]
Vishnu is a rather androgynous-looking God, with long white hair that falls below waist level along with feminine hazel eyes and a black mask with teeth that cover the lower half of his face. He wears a long black and purple trench coat, black pants and a dark gray vest.
Personality[]
Vishnu is a rather calm God who usually prefers to be alone, remaining at a distance from everyone else, although he is almost always in the company of Brahma. He always accepts challenges, and agreed to submit to Shiva and take care of him along with the other Hindu Gods when Shiva became Leader of the Hindu Pantheon. If needed, Vishnu also supports other Hindu Gods, such as Indra during the Apocalypse Tournament. He doesn't seem to be very attentive during battles, not noticing certain details.
Biography[]
Vishnu is the Hindu God of Preservation who, when the Hindu Pantheon was divided into clans, lived with Brahma. One day Shiva and Rudra decide to try to climb to the summit of Svarga to make Rudra King of the Hindu Gods, and after defeating several Hindu Gods they end up facing Vishnu and Brahma as the final two Gods they must defeat. Shiva and Rudra, fighting a 2 vs 2, manage to get the better of Vishnu and Brahma and defeat them. In the end, Shiva defeats Rudra, who abandons the Svarga immediately after, and becomes the King of the Hindu Gods before all the other Hindu Gods including Vishnu.
Millennia later, following the proclamation of the Ragnarok Tournament, Vishnu and the other Hindu Gods attend from the stands at the matches of the Apocalypse Tournament, a competition between 16 Gods, in which Indra also participates, where the winner would take the last place in the Gods Fighters, the representatives of the Gods during the Ragnarok Tournament, and could have created a new law for the Constitution of Valhalla.
Some time later, during the Ragnarok Tournament, Vishnu and the other Hindu Gods find Rudra in the stands of the arena during the Fifth Round and, together with him, witness the fight of their leader Shiva against Raiden Tameemon, seeing Shiva emerge victorious after having unleashed the Tandava Karma. At the end of the Fifth Round, Vishnu and the other Hindu Gods reach Shiva in a state of disrepair in the corridors and, here, they see Shiva admit to Zeus that he now considers Humans fantastic.
While Shiva is hospitalized in the infirmary to repair the three arms cut during the Fifth Round and follows the other matches of the Ragnarok Tournament, Vishnu and the other Hindu Gods go to visit him to make sure he is well.
Powers and Abilities[]
Overall Abilities: Vishnu is one of the strongest Hindu Gods of all, although he is inferior to both Shiva and Rudra, having lost in a battle against them despite being supported by Brahma. Even Indra, having been chosen for the Apocalypse Tournament, is superior to him. As a God, Vishnu possesses physical abilities far greater than those of any ordinary Human. His body cannot be damaged by mortal weapons, however it can still be damaged by unarmed attacks by individuals with superhuman strength and by Divine Weapons. Furthermore, Vishnu cannot die due to old age.
Preservation Abilities: Being the Hindu God of Preservation, it can be assumed that Vishnu possesses some abilities related to preservation.
