Biography[]
For a long period of time Vittal has ran Vittal Steels in India through scrap production with aid from the owner of Vizag Scraps, Rajeev Krishna and the influential don and businessman Madasudhana Reddy, who oversees economic activities in the city and has a network of thugs on his pay. Vittal has signed agreements with hospital and electronic manufacturing companies that has allowed him to gain cheap steel supplies in exchange for exporting their waste. He does so by loading the garbage onto shipping containers and having Reddy and Rajeev import them to be dumped in large numbers close to rural and agricultural land. However the practice goes out of hand when the burning of the garbage causes a smog attack that kills 32 children at a local school.
Presumably with Ram's influence, the deaths are covered as food poisoning so a teacher from the school brings the issue to Vizag's commissioner Ramakrishna. He investigates the practice and traces it to Reddy. In order to prevent their profitable business from falling, Reddy lures Ramakrishna into a trap and shoots him. His murder goes unsolved with many criminals working for Reddy roaming free in Vizag, so the Andra Pradesh assembly calls in Durai Singam to solve the case. Singam suspects Reddy initially and gets conformation when a constable eats an expired medicine tablet. He realizes that the tablets are imported from Australia where Vittal lives, and that they come from the dumps and are recycled to be sold despite being expired. Singam also interrogates Ramakrishna's driver Mallaiya, who saw the murder himself but was blackmailed to keep it secret.
When Singam discovers this, Reddy and Vittal conspire and kill the school teacher and threaten to use their influence to kill his family. Singam confronts Vittal in Sydney and challenges him, before going back to Vizag and swiftly making a mass arrest on Reddy's men. He manages to convict Reddy for killing Ramakrishna through uncovering blocked phone records, but he gets out on bail when a few criminals frame Ramakrishna for sexual assault. Singam retaliates and shoots two of the criminals dead, then he chases Reddy to a construction site and has his inspector Subbu kill him.
Vittal is discouraged by Reddy's death, even more so after Singam shows the garbage containers to the press. Instead of convicting Vittal, Singam decides to let him go hoping he'll reform. Vittal organizes a bombing on Vizag station with Reddy's men and also manages to abduct Singam's friend Vidya. Singam saves her with help from the hacker Murali and uses Vittal's computer records to point him to the mass pollution and illegal activity with Reddy in Vizag. He gets an arrest warrant, leading to Vittal fleeing from Vizag to an airport in Telangana. Vittal boards a plane despite his passport being blocked, but Singam drives on the runway and intercepts it. He arrests Vittal, and in the police van Vittal claims that his dad will have him released in an hour and that he'll destroy Vizag and Thoothikudi with this garbage shipments. Singam states that he intends to drown Vittal in a river and make it look like an accident, having had enough of his atrocities. Vittal breaks his cuffs and escapes into a forest, and Singam follows him. The two fight and Singam fatally wounds Vittal before shooting him dead.
Ram is also immediately fired when he's exposed helping his son the whole time.
