Vittorio Alto, better known as Vito, is the overarching antagonist of the CW soap opera Riverdale.
He is a ruthless Italian gangster and restaurant owner in Riverdale who ran his business in the 90s and took a young Hiram Lodge, then known as Jaime Luna, under his wing, eventually turning him into the corrupt businessman he is today.
He is portrayed by Louis Ferreira.

In 1988, Vito was the biggest gangster in Riverdale. He met a teenage Jaime Luna when he polished his shoe outside Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe and hired him as a delivery boy for his business. Jaime admires Vito for the respect he has, but Vito reveals that people don't respect him; they fear him and that's how he controls them.
After Jaime refused to give up Vito when questioned by the police, Vito, seeing that the boy has proved his loyalty to him, promotes him to an official gangster and provides him with money and stylish clothes. Thanks to his new lifestyle as a gangster, Jaime becomes very famous, starts dating Hermione Gomez, and eventually changes his name to "Hiram Lodge".
Hiram's father, Javier Luna, strongly disapproves of his son's criminal activities. He furiously barges into Vito's office and threatens to expose his crimes to the police if he doesn't leave his son alone. Refusing to accept Javier's terms, Vito has him killed outside Pop's the next day. He attends Javier's funeral, but his suspicious behavior caused Hiram to realize that Vito was behind his father's death. However, before Hiram could get revenge, Vito abandons his business and leaves town permanently. So instead, Hiram kills Vito's men and takes over his former boss's business, eventually becoming the most corrupt businessman and gangster in all of Riverdale.

33 years later, Hiram_now mayor of Riverdale and CEO of Lodge Industries_finally tracks Vito down to a nursery home where he is a terminally ill old man. He confronts Vito in his deathbed and threatens him by squeezing his hand and reminding him of what he told him about controlling people through fear, at which point he asks Vito if he fears him now. He then kills Vito by putting a pillow over his face and shooting him in the head, finally avenging his father's death.
