Vladus Lovus Lokowitchki, also known as The Snatcher, is the main antagonist in The Amazing World of Gumball episode "The Mirror."
He is voiced by Kerry Shale.
Appearance[]
As The Snatcher, he had a roughly humanoid shape with black skin, a skeletal appearance, and glowing yellow eyes. He wore a long, black, hooded cloak, which was ripped and torn apart. He almost resembled a decomposing corpse. When emerging through paintings and mirrors, he was usually illuminated by a green light.
As a mortal human, Vladus is an old man with white skin and hollow, drooping eyes. He has a beard, and hair similar to Carrie. Unlike his daughter, he wears a train conductor cap, a dark blue trench coat, a red undershirt, black pants, and brown boots.
As a ghost, he appears the same, except he is translucent and his legs are replaced by ghostly tails.
Personality[]
Vladus is a soft-spoken, sweet man who loves and cares for his daughter, Carrie, evident when he embraces her after reuniting with her.
As the Snatcher, he was extremely aggressive and sadistic, as he was driven evil by loneliness after being trapped in the mirror for so long.
Biography[]
Vladus was originally a mortal man who fell in love with a beautiful ghost after seeing her in the mirror. Wanting to kiss her just once, he used an incantation from a forbidden book that allowed the living to touch a ghost. The price for this, however, was a cursed existence, dooming his spirit to a life in limbo, trapped behind mirrors. As he grew increasingly lonely and angry, he sought someone to take his place.
In "The Mirror," he put a curse on Gumball for not forwarding a chain e-mail. Throughout the day, he made Gumball lose all of his money, his friends and his girlfriend. After arriving at their house, Gumball and Darwin witness The Snatcher for the first time when he takes Anais, Nicole and Richard with him, emerging through mirrors/mirror-like surfaces. Afterward, The Snatcher appears in several mirrors and frames intimidating Gumball and Darwin. Fortunately, Carrie arrives and retrieves the forbidden book from the underworld, and also reveals that The Snatcher is her father. Carrie explains how to free her father, insisting that when The Snatcher comes, the sunlight will shine on him and the trio can smash the mirror with the book. In the attic, they successfully do this, and The Snatcher is freed from his curse, turning into Vladus. Carrie asks him if he recognizes her, and Vladus replies he that he does. They attempt to each other but due to Carrie being a ghost, Vladus phases through her daughter and falls out of a window, killing him. As Carrie mourns over her lost father, Vladus phases up through the floor, revealing that Vladus is now a ghost. Finally, Carrie embraced her long-lost father.
