Void is a minor antagonist in the 2022 Roblox horror-game DOORS that was added in the Hotel+ Update. It also serves as the secondary antagonist of the Doors x Tower Heroes event.
Appearance[]
Nothing is currently known about Void. Its appearance is unknown, as either the room gets too dark for us to be able to see it, or the figure itself, as the name says, is just a void.
Biography[]
In multiplayer games, whenever the player is moving too slow from the others, Void will appear. The screen will then turn black and flash, and the player is teleported to the rest of the group. It will also deal damage that can actually be lethal if the player has low enough health.
It is a mysterious and intangible entity that exists within the world of DOORS, primarily acting as an enforcer of the game's mechanics. Its presence is triggered when players lag too far behind their teammates in a multiplayer session, functioning similarly to Glitch, but with a more direct and less forgiving role. When Void intervenes, it teleports the lagging player back to the group, forcing them to rejoin the others, while simultaneously inflicting damage. This damage can be significant, and if the player is already low on health, Void’s intervention can be lethal.
Unlike many of the other entities in the game, its appearance is not directly visible. When triggered, the game environment darkens, and the screen flashes as Void makes its move.
Trivia[]
- It is unknown whether the developers confirmed that this entity is part of the storyline, although most fans consider that it is canon.
- The Void is not to be confused with the in-game void.
- With Void being added into the game, Glitch no longer has the same purpose as it, so now the latter only acts as a failsafe.
- It's unknown what its goal is, because the entity is rarely talked about. although it could be a good entity because instead of leaving players in the dark void dying, it teleports them back to their friends.
- Glitch used to take on the function of Void. The ability was given to Void when it was introduced in the Hotel+ Update.
- However, in both, The Rooms, and The Backdoor Glitch performs both its own function and Void's current function.
- Void exists not only as a balancing limitation but also as a physical limitation since the game unloads the previous rooms as the players navigate between them. Void will teleport the player to prevent said player from ending up in the "void" of unloaded room they were previously standing in.
- If the player is 5 rooms behind, the room's lighting becomes subtly dim, presumably by Void as build up to its jumpscare.
- The threshold is lowered to 4 rooms when the Infirmary generates.
- Further past the Second Seek chase it's lowered to 3 rooms.
- Unlike Glitch, Void is considered canon since Guiding Light is able to recognize it as a cause for a player's death.
- As of the Content update, Glitch is canon.
- The "It Stares Back" Achievement, which is rewarded upon encountering Void, is an image of The Grand Hallway with amplified darkness.
- Void is one of two entities that cannot be seen when crucified, the other entity being Dupe.
- Void is possibly related to Vacuum from The Backdoor, though this is speculation.
- Void is one of the only entities that can break the 4th wall, the other being, Glitch, Guiding Light and Curious Light.
