The Void is the main antagonist and final boss of the 2017 Roblox game Tower Battles and one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Calamity) of its 2023 sequel Tower Defense X. He is also set to appear in some capacity in its upcoming film adaptation.
It is a powerful entity that leads the zombies in their attempts to destroy the GDA (Global Defense Army).
He was "voiced" by Henry Cavill (who also played August Walker in Mission: Impossible – Fallout), as some of his old sound effects were taken from Henry Cavill.
Appearance[]
The Void is gigantic, bigger than all of its army. Its head is a very dark purple, on its head is dark purple veins and a crown. Its arms are the same color as its head with the same veins bulging out. Its torso is granite dark purple, on its chest is a purple crystal, and a few zombie silhouettes waving their arms. Spikes protrude out of its back. its legs are the same as its torso without the crystal and spikes. Void emits a constant "groaning" noise and dark purple aura.
Biography[]
Tower Battles[]
For unknown reasons, the Void leads a horde of zombies in an attempt to defeat the GDA. Throughout the war, the Void anonymously talks to the Cadet, taunting them and announcing new enemies and bosses. After the Cadet defeats most of Void's army, it arrives to kill them itself. Ultimately, Void is defeated by the GDA's forces, presumably killing all zombies in its army.
Tower Defense X[]
Years later, the Void returns, having somehow survived its previous defeat. Reviving most of its army, the Void attempts to destroy the GDA again, now stronger. The Cadet, now known as Commander, defends the GDA once more from the zombies. It is unknown what happened to Void after its second defeat.
Powers & Abilities[]
Normal[]
- Summoning Zombies: Void will summon minions on itself every so often. These minions spawn in groups of one - four. Each individual minion have unique stats.
- Generating Shockwaves: When Void spawns and exits the zombie cave he will let out a scream. The scream creates a very large shockwave that will usually cover over half the map. The shockwave has the ability to stun towers for a short period of time. He can also pound the ground to create shockwaves.
- Supernatural Strength and Durability: Void has more health than most zombies in the game with 500.000 HP, besides Grim with 700,000 HP in total. This allows him to withstand a lot of damage from towers. In Tower Defense X x Tower Battles Collab event, he has 800,000 HP. Plus, in Tower Battles Nightmare, he has 2.000.000 HP with 200.000 Shield instead.
- Fire, Cold and Electrical Immunity: Void is not affected by cold, fire or in any way.
Tower Defense X[]
- Meteor Storms: The Void can summon a meteor storm that drops on towers, damaging them. One of the new abilities the Void has never used before, it is added in the Tower Battles Event of Tower Defense X.
- Brainwashing: The Void can manipulate the towers into attacking each other by projecting a dark cloud above him, making them only attack other towers nearby instead of zombies. The brainwashed towers with have a purple ring around them along with increased selling price. This deadly ability, along with Meteor Storm and destroying warships were recently introduced in the Tower Battles Event in Tower Defense X.
- Telekinesis/Warship Destroyer: If there are more than two Warships in the map, the Void will jump and lift the warships with great strength, which destroys them into pieces.

Trivia[]
- In Tower Defense X lore, the Void is one of the most powerful demonic entities alongside Calamity, although Calamity is considered far inferior in terms of strength than that of Void's.
- When the Void is listened to closely, it can be heard constantly emitting pained screams, and these screams are likely coming from multiple humanoid creatures embedded throughout its body.
- Void's former scream during its spawn was a zombie voice from Call of Duty, and when it died it was a slowed version of Superman's scream after killing Zod in the Man of Steel movie.
- Void is the only zombie who speaks directly to the player (except for King Jack, as it is still unclear whether the message on the billboard is his) in Tower Battles.
- Void's meteor summoning ability may be a reference to the scene in the Avengers: Infinity War where Thanos attacks Doctor Strange with an asteroid strike.
- Void has inspired bosses in many tower defense games on Roblox, including Tower Defense Simulator and Tower Defense X, and inspirations from it are frequently seen.
- Among the characters that can be inspired by Void include Void Reaver from TDS and Calamity from TDX. While Void Reaver is similar to Void in both name and appearance, Calamity's early concepts were heavily inspired by Void, both in name and appearance.
