NOTE: This article is only the Voltaris Clan's appearances in Season 1 of Songs of War.

When presented with the Prime Songs however, he revealed himself as Ingressus, leader of the long-forgotten Voltaris Clan. Outraged, the masters refused to give Ingressus the Prime Songs, for it was due to their misuse of such that they had been banished long ago.
~ Thalleous reading off the Wall of Time.
How long has it been... one and a half centuries? Well, what are you all gawking at? Stand firm. Our days of hiding in the shadows are at an end, my brothers.
~ Tygren at the unactivated portal.

The Voltaris Clan are the main antagonists of the animated web series, Songs of War.

They are a violent, genocidal clan of Ardoni formerly lead by Ingressus Voltaris. Vengeful for their exile, they sought revenge through stealing the Prime Songs and murdering anyone in their way. This lead to them allying with the Nether and starting the Great War, leaving a permanent scar in Ardonia's history.

A century and a half later, through the leadership of Tygren Voltaris, they burned down innocent villages and attempted to steal Dragon Eggs and the Prime Songs. This was all in an effort to prepare for the return of Ingressus.

Appearance[]

The Voltaris are a clan of Ardoni, a tall humanoid species identified by their dark bodies and distinct glowing patterns that represents their clan. Female Ardoni are identified by their glowing eyes and having three pixels on their horns instead of one. Their most important skill is wielding Songs, artifacts which grant them offensive, defensive, and mobile skills. When dying, they lose their colors and drop their Songs.

Red is the Voltaris color, although a few members have varying shades, some even being dark pink. They mainly wield iron weapons, although Tygren has the diamond greatsword he stole from Thalleous's corpse.

History[]

Prior to the Great War[]

Your sword has slain many of my brothers and once I kill you, I will take it and slay twice as many of yours!
~ Tygren's first confrontation with Thalleous, hinting at his past with the Voltaris.

As written on the 11th Wall of Time, the Voltaris were exiled by the other Ardoni clans due to their misuse of great power. Warriors such as Thalleous Sendaris engaged in countless battles against them, slaying countless members. At an unknown time, Ingressus Voltaris would infiltrate into the Nestoris Clan, where he would hide his identity for years.

The Great War[]

When the Nether invaded Ardonia, a tournament was started to see which Ardoni warrior would wield the Prime Songs and led the people during the invasion. Ingressus won the tournament and revealed his true clan. However, the masters denied Ingressus the Songs due to him being Voltaris. Believing the Prime Songs should have been his, Ingressus went on a massive murdering spree, killing the masters of the Sendaris, Kaltaris, and Mendoris to claim the Songs.

He knew that he couldn't face the combined efforts of the Ardoni Clans or the Enderknights, leading to him allying with the Nether, triggering the Great War. This ravaged Ardonia and killed thousands, nearly driving the Ardoni to extinction. It wasn't until Achillean Nestoris stepped up and turned the tides of the war.

This event would cause the Nether to pull out of the war leading to the Voltaris being hunted down and fleeing to Mount Velgrin. Here, Achillean fought Ingressus. For over a century, it was believed that both Achillean and Ingressus died in that fight as only their songs were found, however it was revealed that Ingressus travelled 150 years into the future and Achillean followed him.

150 Years Later[]

For over one and a half centuries, the Voltaris laid hidden in Mount Velgrin waiting for a chance to strike, that was when Thalleous Sendaris discovered a settlement of Voltaris being led by Tygren. He managed to defeat Thalleous in the fight and chase him off the mountain, after escaping with only his life, Thalleous decided to move the Prime Songs from their respective villages into hidden locations. The Voltaris Clan, around this time, began their plan, first making a deal with Jalkar to gather the Dragon Eggs to prevent the next generation of Enderknights, then find the Prime Songs. Tygren was unable to find the Prime Songs and in his anger decided to massacre entire villages of Ardoni.

After one last duel, Tygren killed Thalleous and took his sword plus his songs. Tygren and his forces then went back to Mount Velgrin and activated the time portal, but they were caught by a warband of Ardoni Warriors that rode out to stop them. This triggered a fight where the Voltaris fought hard, but quickly lost many warriors. During the final face off, Ingressus stepped through the portal. He drew his weapons, preparing to fight.

Trivia[]

  • Although this wasn't discovered in Season 1, Senn is actually half Votaris, but appeared clanless since one of his parents was Sendaris.
  • Similarly, the Necrolord is also secretly Voltaris, foreshadowed by his height and glowing red eyes. He abandoned his clan to pursue a life of controlling undead with the ultimate goal of conquering Felden.
  • In the scripts of the unreleased seasons, the Second Great War would have been detrimental to the Voltaris Clan. Pythus would have broken Ingressus's alliance and slaughtered all of the pure-blooded Voltaris, leaving Senn as the only surviving member.
