Biography[]
Past[]
Voss was a member of the SMC who was caught in the Mars riots when it was under siege by the rioters and been held captured by them. In order to break him, the rioters put extreme measures to abuse him when he experienced his torture by them for the following six months before placing him in a coffin and burying him alive knowing very well that he is claustrophobic. Following his release, he suffers from his traumatic experience that gave him nightmares about hks torture even to this day.
Quake 4[]
Following the death of his predecessor, Lieutenant Daily, Voss rose up to become the leader of Rhino Squad as he joins his fellow men to participate in the second invasion. Meeting up with Rhino Squad, he epitomized about his size that it is not him in the fight but only a fight in him. Bringing Kane with him due to seeing potential in him, he leads Rhino Squad in joining the assault to deliver and detonate an EMP that will give them an advantage to disrupt the Nexus's communication array to bring a new victory for humanity. Unfortunately for Voss, the EMP was destroyed by the Strogg and Makron Alpha had ambushed and captured Kane to be stroggified into a Strogg.
Though Kane was stroggified, Voss led the squad in a successful rescue mission thus preventing him from fully becoming a Strogg. After the rescue, Voss would venture through the Strogg Medical Facility with Kane and Rhino Squad to make their escape. After a cave in, he was ambushed and captured by a Tactical Strogg where he takes him to a pit with him that leads to a path to the Waste Processing Facility. Taken to there, he was stroggified and mutated into a hulking Strogg monstrosity not only as a presumed answer to the SMC Walker but as the facility's guardian.
Kane arrives and makes a horrifying discovery seeing Voss strogified and unwillingly preparing to fight him to guard the facility. Moments before losing his will, he told Kane that he is unable to control himself and shouts out "Run!" before succumbing to his Strogg corruption. Unable to free Voss from being controlled, Kane was forced to fight against him as he had to be able to shoot at him to disabling his shields and to stop him from attempting to kill him as well as shooting at a majority of Strogg forces he summons from teleportation. Eventually, Kane puts Voss out of his misery after his fight and was succeeded by Dell Morris to become leader of Rhino Squad.
Following his death, he was eventually avenged as Kane manages to kill Macron Alpha and destroys the Nexus, giving an ultimate victory to humanity and putting the Strogg in disarray.
Trivia[]
- Voss's appearance shares a similar trait to Sabaoth from the video game, Doom 3 as both were military commanders until they transform into cybernetic monstrosities for the player to fight against.
