A normal guy should respect even his enemy.

I'll go alone if necessary! And you, see for yourself. Whoever is with me, is with me.
~ Vova Adidas

Vladimir Suvorov, also known as Vova Adidas is one of the three protagonists of the Russian TV series The Boy's Word: Blood on the Asphalt. The criminal authority of the Supermarket group opposes Kashchey, the leader of the group. Marat's older brother is "Adidas Jr."

He was portrayed by Ivan Yankovsky.

Personality[]

Vova Adidas has a combination of charismatic qualities and street smarts that contribute to his magnetic presence. He radiates confidence, fearlessness and a certain mystery. Vova is known for his ability to command the respect of his gang members by demonstrating his leadership qualities. However, beneath his tough exterior, there are hints of vulnerability that make it possible to understand the complexity of his character.

Biography[]

Vova Suvorov was born in Kazan on November 12, 1968. Despite coming from an intelligent family, he was not a brilliant student. Vova's father (played by Sergei Burunov), who worked at a defense plant, generally did not participate in his upbringing. Vova had to get a school of life from street "boys" who taught him to live at his own discretion. Together with his friends, he created the gang "Universam" and entered into territorial fights with other groups. However, when Vova was drafted into the army in 1987, instead of the desired service in East Germany, he was sent to Afghanistan. Returning to Kazan in 1989, Vova discovers that the gang "Universam" has a new leader, and the other gangs have grown stronger and are instilling fear in the residents of the area. He is also dissatisfied with the internal structure of the group, the lawlessness that Kashchey allows. Vova is unhappy that the Universam gang robbed the mother of one of the gang members. Together with the gang members, he begins to engage in road robbery, charging drivers for driving on their territory. He gives part of the money to Andrey, whose mother was robbed by Kashchei. Later, one of the gang members, "Yeralash", is killed. After the one who saw Yeralash's death was expelled from the gang for lying about who actually killed the gang member, it turns out that he was killed by members of the "Khadi Taktash" gang. Kashchei does not intend to start a war with this group, which angers Vova. Vova gathers all the members of "Universam" and they go to attack "Khadi Taktash". During the battle, Vova is wounded in the leg by a board with nails. In the hospital, one of the gang members makes his way into the ward of Yeralash's killer and beats him up. Members of the "Hadi Taktash" group attack the hospital where the wounded members of both groups were lying. This happens during Vova's leg surgery. Marat and other guys enter the operating room, transfer Vova to another cart and evacuate him from the building, stealing an ambulance along the way. After these events, at a general meeting where Kashchei comes, Vova and all the gang members turn him down and take things from his safe. After that, the gang members go to a video store, after watching it, steal a VCR from there and open their own. One day, members of the "Dom Byta" group come to the video store, they kidnap Aigul and the VCR. Vova makes an appointment with the leader of the group - "Yellow". He steals his father's car and takes "Zima" and Marat with him. On the spot, Vova, Marat and their friend Zima are beaten. Adidas is required to kneel down and apologize, he refuses. But when he sees how they are cutting off his brother's ear, he still says "forgive me". Thus, Adidas violates one of the street principles - "guys don't apologize". Meanwhile, one of the members of "Dom Byta" rapes Aigul. Vova returns to his place and takes the gun that once belonged to Kashchei. He arrives at "Dom Byta" alone, wounds everyone present, kills Yellow and saves Aigul. Vova gets closer to the nurse Natasha. The guy liked her back in the hospital, when Adidas was wounded in the leg. Adidas warns his brother that he can't meet Aigul now - the guys won't understand and will "send him off" from the street. As a result, Marat doesn't listen to Vova, which leads to the bullying of Aigul and her subsequent suicide. Meanwhile, Andrey "Palto" tells Vova that he is wanted. He hides in Natasha's dorm. The next morning, Vova learns from Andrey that Aigul has died. Marat doesn't know about it yet. Vova goes to the cemetery with his brother, drinks vodka with him and remembers his dead comrade-in-arms - 18-year-old Alexander from the "Razezd" gang. Adidas Sr. can't find the strength to tell Marat about the tragedy. He just hugs him and apologizes. In the evening, Vova leaves with Natasha to her aunt. It turns out that the aunt is the mother of the bandit Yellow, killed by the hero. Vova's conscience torments him: he helps Natasha's relatives bury the dead man. But at the cemetery, one of Yellow's accomplices recognizes Adidas. Natasha runs away from Vova in tears. Vova meets with the gang and announces that he will soon leave the city. Winter becomes the main man in the "Universam". Vova meets Marat at his house and asks him to bring him warm clothes and food so he can leave the city. But Marat is not happy to see him at all. He blames Adidas Sr. for Aigul's death. The next morning, Vova Adidas goes to Natasha's dorm, but runs into Ildar in her room. The guy beats up the policeman and runs away. He convinces the girl to run away with him to Abkhazia. It is difficult to do this, since Adidas is being searched all over Kazan. On the way out of the city, he calls his stepmother and finds out that his father's house has been searched. Vova returns to Kazan to visit his father and say goodbye to him. But he does not accept his son and disowns him, calling him a murderer. The police chase Vova, and Ildar shoots him near the car. Apparently, mortally wounded Vova falls and loses consciousness in Natasha's arms. It is unknown whether Vova survived or not.

Trivia[]

At the moment, the fate of Vova Adidas is unknown. It is assumed that Vova Adidas survived for several reasons:

  • Since the shot was in the back, the bullet most likely hit the lungs or liver, these injuries may not be fatal if first aid and surgery are provided in time.
  • Ivan Yankovsky is a popular actor and his character has a huge fan base and is the titled main character of the series.
  • We don't see his funeral and no one confirmed his death on camera, since the series ended with Vova losing consciousness and a policeman driving up, running out of the car, preparing to provide first aid. And even if his grave is shown in Season 2, his "death" will not be confirmed, since there will still be a possibility that his death was staged.
  • Vova Adidas has a habit of cheating death, as can be seen in episode 3, when during the shooter he was unconscious and until episode 4 it was unclear whether he died or not.
  • After a shot in the back, you can see that the blood on the chest does not spread, you can conclude that the bullet did not hit the heart.
  • Actor Ivan Yankovsky and director Zhora Kryzhovnikov did not confirm his death, although Ivan Yankovsky said goodbye to the film crew after the release of episode 8, he did not say anything about his participation or absence in season 2. Later, a photo was released with Ivan Yankovsky on a hospital table, most fans assumed that it was filming season 2, but in fact this is a photo of episode 4 of season 1. It is quite possible that the director hinted at the possibility of "resurrection" of Vova Adidas.
  • Viewers assumed that Vova Adidas is the prototype of Tyap Lyap leader Sergei Antipov, who spent the 90s in prison. In case Ivan Yankovsky refuses to act in season 2 or 3, the possibility of "resurrection" remains
  • If the director wanted to show that the character really died, he would have shown his glassy gaze in close-up, Vova Adidas, on the contrary, closes his eyes, leaving the result ambiguous: either he died or lost consciousness.
