~ Vrax on what the failure of Valdore's efforts would mean for him.
Vrax was an antagonistic Romulan introduced in the Star Trek: Enterprise episode United. He was portrayed by the late American actor Geno Silva.
By 2154 Vrax was a member of the Romulan Star Empire's Senate, a posting he had held for a number of years. When his friend and fellow Senator Valdore faced death for asking if unlimited expansion was the best course for the Romulans, Vrax intervened to keep Valdore from getting killed. While expelled from the Senate, Valdore was able to work his way up the ranks in the military and was an Admiral by 2154. By 2154 Vrax's position was such that he had Reman bodyguards which he would display when needing to intimidate others.
In 2154, Vrax supported Valdore's efforts to destabilize the Empire's neighbors using remotely piloted drones that could be disguised as other ships. While initially successful, the crew of the Enterprise (NX-01) was able to board one of the drones and gather clues as to who was behind the drones and were able to heavily damage the drone. Vrax had Valdore bring the ship back, worried that if the drone was captured it would point right back to the Romulans, and that if that happened the Senate would not be very happy with either of them.
The crew of the Enterprise were able to disrupt the communications between the Aenar Gareb who had been forced to act as pilot and the Romulan drones. Convinced to help, Gareb had the two drones attack each other until one of the drones was destroyed, and the Enterprise finished off the other one.
Due to this failure both Vrax and Valdore were arrested, stripped of rank, and imprisoned. Some weeks later the First Counsul T'Leikha convinced Praetor D'Deridex to release Valdore from prison to fight against Earth and its allies. Valdore arranged for Vrax to also be released from prison, feeling that the Empire would have need of men like Vrax in the future.
Allowed to resume his political career, by the mid-23rd century Vrax was named Praetor. In 2266, Vrax authorized a mission into Federation space to probe their defenses and see how effective their new and improved weapons would work against the Federation. While Commander Keras was able to destroy a few outposts, the ship was hunted down and destroyed by the USS Enterprise. At about the same time Vrax managed a debate in the Senate to decide how to deal with the Federation, which led to the Empire seeking an alliance with the KlingonEmpire.
One year later Vrax was either out of office or was planning to retire as rumors began spreading throughout the Alpha Quadrant about a new praetor coming to power.
