The Vulcan Isolationist Movement (VIM) was a group of Vulcan revolutionists introduced in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Gambit.

Much like the Logic Extremists before them, the VIM sought the withdrawal of Vulcan from the United Federation of Planets and the purging of all "alien" elements from Vulcan society.

Led by T'Paal, in 2370 the group attempted to reassemble the Stone of Gol, an ancient Vulcan psionic resonator that enabled users to kill others through telepathy. The device worked by amplyfying the negative emotions of its victims and turning the emotions against the person experiencing them. However for all its power, if a person remained calm and emptied their minds of violent thoughts the Stone would have no effect on them.

Due to the intervention of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the Enterprise, the VIM failed to unleash the resonator on Vulcan and the rest of the Alpha Quadrant. Picard reasoned that even though the VIM was right in that it was a weapon that could not be stopped by advanced weapons such as phasers, the peaceful mindset of the modern Vulcans was completely effective against the device, and that it would not work on others who emptied their minds of violent thoughts. Picard then handed the Stone of Gol over to the V'Shar (Vulcan security) who in turned destroyed all three component pieces of the Stone. When Data expressed regret that the device could not be saved since it would have provided insight into pre-reform Vulcans, Picard felt the Stone was far too dangerous a weapon to risk the VIM or someone else getting a hold of and reassembling the weapon and that the Stone belonged in the past.

T'Paal was taken in to custody, and the V'Shar began to hunt down the rest of the movement, which was officially designated a terrorist movement the following year. In addition the crew of the pirate ship that had been raiding archeological sites all over the quadrant were taken into custody by the Vulcans and held for the number of races that had legal scores to settle with them.
