Vulcanus is one of the primary antagonists in the video game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.
Personality[]
Vulcanus' most notable trait is his sheer hatred for demons, viewing them as fully evil and thinking that they should all be killed. This hatred extends, to a lesser extent to humans who Vulcanus will manipulate into wars just so they can kill demons.
Despite thinking angels are better than humans and demons, he has shown prejudice against angels that befriend demons like Flonne to the point that he'd actively kill them himself if given the chance.
Vulcanus is cunning, relying more on others to do his dirty work rather than fighting his own battles, to the point he starts a war between the three universes just to get what he wants.
Unexpectedly, Vulcanus is a coward, with him trying to lie in order to stay on the side of the Seraph since he knows he could easily kill him if he wanted.
This mixture of cowardice and cunning leads to him having an overly inflated ego to the point that he thinks he could be a better God than the one he seems to worship. Of course, his ego is his biggest flaw it leading to his defeat in both the main story and Etna mode.
Biography[]
Plan[]
Vulcanus is an Arcangel of Celestia, however, he wanted more, he wanted to become the Seraph (The highest-ranking angel in Celestia) and possibly become God himself and have all angels obey him.
War of the Three Worlds[]
Vulcanus grants General Carter and his army the ability to travel to the Netherworld, starting an all-out war between the humans and demons so that the humans can win land and resources to keep them safe.
Laharl and his ground eventually find out that angels have been helping General Carter which causes them to invade Celestia in order to figure out what is happening.
Fate[]
Once Laharl and his group have beaten their way through Celestia, they beat Vulcanus who flees to Seraph Lamington who reveals that he has known about Vulcanus' betrayal and as such, turns him into a flower as punishment.
Etna Mode[]
In this non-canon story, Vulcanus directly manipulates Flonne into killing Etna by pretending to be God and by giving an amulet that absorbs dark energy which makes her far strong. His plan fails and as he tries to sneak back into Celestia, he encounters Seraph Lamington who punishes Vulcanus for pretending to be God and manipulating Flonne.
