~ Vulture to Spider-Man during their fight, alongside Electro. |
Adrian Toomes, best known by his alias Vulture, is a supporting antagonist in the 2018 video game Marvel's Spider-Man and a minor antagonist in its 2020 spin-off Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
He is a supervillain with a winged harness, who out of all the members of the Sinister Six, has the most history with Spider-Man.
He was voiced by Dwight Schultz, who also voiced Professor Pyg in Batman: Arkham Knight, General Wilhelm Strasse in Wolfenstein: The New Order, both Charon and Helios in the God of War series, Aloysius Animo in Ben 10, and Danny Darrow in Scooby-Doo! Mysterious Incorporated.
History[]
Early life[]
Born in Staten Island, New York City, the Vulture was one of the first supervillains Spider-Man had to face. He engineered his own flight suit and began committing crime across New York. It took Spider-Man years and many failed attempts to finally catch Vulture and he was then locked away in the Raft. It was later discovered that Vulture had developed spinal cancer due to the power produced from his winger rig.
Marvel's Spider-Man[]
Vulture was later approached by Otto Octavius, who devised a plan to save Vulture's life and free him from the Raft prison, in exchange for helping fix a personal vendetta against the mayor of New York Norman Osborn. Vulture agreed to the task.
The Vulture assisted Electro briefly against Spider-Man during the prison breakout at the Raft, helping to lure him into a deadly confrontation with the Sinister Six. Together, the villains brutally beats Spider-Man and Otto briefed them on their objectives.
Later, when Spider-Man escapes an explosive trap set by Doctor Octopus, Vulture captures Spider-Man and drags him to Electro as a back-up plan. The two supervillains proceeded to battle the web slinger. Despite their best efforts, Spider-Man took them both down after a lengthy battle, and Vulture was subsequently arrested. It's never specified if he got cured from his spinal cancer.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2[]
At some point, Vulture somehow escaped from the Raft and was on the loose in the city. However, he was eventually discovered and killed by Kraven The Hunter, who took Vultures wings as a trophy, but also honorably admitted that he put up a very good fight, and one of his worthiest opponents yet.
Trivia[]
- Dwight Schultz had previously voiced the Vulture in the video game adaptation of the 2002 Spider-Man film.
- Despite that the Vulture is mentioned in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales to still be active, it's currently unknown if this means that he has been cured of his spinal cancer or not.
