| ~ Wade Martin, when fighting. |
Wade Martin is a minor antagonist in the 2006 action-adventure video game Bully.
He is a member of the Bullies clique at Bullworth Academy whose behavior is driven by rage, resentment, and deep insecurity. He harbors a strong grudge against his home life and especially his father, blaming a chaotic family background, including a messy parental divorce, for many of his problems. He also resents his own perceived lack of intelligence, which fuels a hostile attitude toward students he considers “nerds,” whom he believes deserve to be bullied because they are smarter than him. Wade sometimes seems to enjoy the attention or consequences that come from his antagonistic behavior, as he complains bitterly about punishments and appears partly motivated by the disruption and notoriety his aggression brings. He is also the brother of the non-clique student Christy Martin.
He was voiced by Matt Monroe.
Biography[]
Wade comes from a broken up family: the catalyst piece of the overall situation that contributes him being pent up with rage. He hates his home life in general and his father in particular, as well as hating his self-percieved lack of intelligence. He seems to hold a grudge against his father for him and his wife had a messy divorce in the past, blaming his father for it. When he's losing his temper, sometimes remarks about his father slip out, and he will try to cover it up by claiming he said something else.
For his hate of his self-percieved lack of intelligence, he has an antagonism towards nerds, claiming that they should be beaten up for being so smart, especially compared to him. Nerds, in turn, have a petition to get Wade expelled from Bullworth Academy, to no avail.
Bully[]
Wade, alongside the other bullies, confronts Jimmy Hopkins in the first mission, and he is the one who challenges him to a fight, giving him the distinction of being the first student who Jimmy has to fight. He plays a minor role during Chapter 1, serving as a backup for his fellow bully friends.
In an errand mission, he steals Karen's teddy bear from her, causing Jimmy to beat him up and take the bear back.
