Wakabayashi is a major antagonist of the Junji Ito manga Uzumaki, serving as the main antagonist of the manga's thirteenth chapter The House.
He is one of the residents living in the same row house as the Goshimas as a result of a massive hurricane caused by the Spiral destroying their town. Throughout the chapter, Wakabayashi is seen stalking Kirie Goshima, trying to win her affections and spying on her through a hole in a wall of his room. In the row house also resides an old woman and her deceased son, both of whom were affected by a rare disease which caused many spiral-like growths to grow all over their bodies. Wakabayashi had inadvertently caught the disease that the family had, which caused him to turn into a monstrous beast covered with long spiral-like horns.
