Waldemarr Rald is the overarching antagonist of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, and by extension the overarching antagonist of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War.
Rald is the leader of the Rald Faction, a group within the Democratic Liberal Party, which itself was a party which held the majority of political power in the Belkan Federation in the 1990s. This makes him partly responsible for the Belkan War.
Biography[]
Past life[]
Rald's past life remains completely unknown to date. At some point, he became a member of the Democratic Liberal Party, later on leading the efforts to end the crisis the country was going through. After hatred against Osea was built up in the country after finding out that they had been manipulated to destabilize their economy, the Democratic Liberal Party rose to power after the elections later that year.
Belkan War[]
Rald then formed his subgroup within the Democratic Liberal Party, called the Rald Faction. The Rald Faction seemed to have a lot of political influence within the government, as it seemed to convince the Belkan government to invade the neighboring country Ustio, starting the Belkan War. Rald's whereabouts during the war remain unknown, but it is implied that he is behind several of the country's operations within said war.
It is unknown if Rald participated in the peace negotiations between Belka and the Allied Forces, after the latter had successfully gained control of South Belka, leading to the bombing of the seven nuclear warheads in 1995.
After Belka's defeat, the Rald Faction began backing the terrorist organization A World With No Boundaries. However, in 1996, he and his faction were exposed, leading to their exile from the Democratic Liberal Party and Belka's government as a whole, ending Waldemarr Rald's political career right then and there.
