**Technically, however, Arthur was just justified of shooting the first two bullies in self-defense, as the third bully tried to run away from him and no longer posed a threat to his life. That said, Arthur could have even been able to get rid of them by shooting to the side or just showing them the gun.

The Wall Street Three are major antagonists in the 2019 psychological thriller film Joker, the first installment of the DC Black film series.
They are three well-off financially residents of Gotham City's Wall Street who work for Wayne Enterprises. One fateful night, they harass a young woman on the subway but when Arthur Fleck accidentally starts laughing at them, they proceed to assault him, unleashing Fleck's anger and inadvertently kicking off the film's plot.
They were portrayed by Carl Lundstedt, Michael Benz and Ben Warheit in their first villainous roles.
Biography
After Arthur Fleck gets fired for bringing a gun to work, he gets on the subway home. In the subway, he was watching how a young woman was harassed by three young and wealthy Wall Street stock brokers from Wayne Enterprises as one of them is asking her if she wants French fries. Seeking to save her, Arthur bursts out in his uncontrollable laughter. He gets the attention of the brokers as the woman moves to a different cart.
As they come toward Arthur, one of them starts singing "Send in the Clowns" by Frank Sinatra as he is still laughing uncontrollably. Once they ask Arthur why he was laughing, Arthur tries to show his license out of his bag, but instead one of them takes his bag away from him and then they start to attack Arthur as he tries to fight back. Then one of them grabs him from behind and the other one hits him to the ground. As Arthur is on the ground, all three of them start kicking him.
While Arthur is still on the ground, he grabs the gun out of his pocket and immediately shoots one of the guys in the head and shoots the other one twice in the chest dead. The last one tries to run away once the train comes to a stop and he is able to escape the train, but gets shot on his right leg. Wounded, the last guy tries to escape Arthur in the subway crawling up the staircase to almost successfully doing so, but gets shot dead by him.
Afterwards their deaths sparked an uprising in Gotham City against the wealthy and elite.
