Walter "Walt" Thrombey is a major antagonist in the 2019 mystery film Knives Out, the first installment in Rian Johnson‘s film series of the same name.
Biography[]
For many years, Walt was the CEO of Harlan's publishing company, before his father cut him off, wanting Walt to build something for himself. After Harlan's suicide, and the reveal that all of his inheritance was going to Marta, Walt learned from Meg that Marta's mother was undocumented, and he attempted to blackmail Marta with this information, but Marta was not threatened.
At the end of the movie, Walt is outside of the Thrombey home, now owned by Marta, who drinks from her My House mug, implying that she doesn't plan on helping the Thrombey's after all they did to her.
Personality[]
Walt is rude, selfish, and greedy.
Trivia[]
- In a deleted scene of the movie, it is implied that Walt's broken leg came from failing to pay back a loan shark. If this is canon in the final edition of the film, then it would explain why he is so desperate to get Harlan's inheritance.
