~ Walter to Evie after she ruined his plans at immortality.
Evie: You're a monster.

Walter: I AM A GOD!

~ Walter's last words.

Walter Deville, also known as Count Dracula, is the main antagonist of the 2022 supernatural horror film The Invitation.

He was portrayed by Thomas Doherty, who played Harry Hook in the Descendants film series and the vampire Sebastian on Legacies.

Biography[]

For centuries, Walter had been controlling a village in the English countryside. He had two "brides", Viktoria and Lucy, both coming from a long line of noble families. He was originally to marry Evie's great grandmother Emmaline to maintain control over the Viktoria residence, but she kills herself to escape.

After Evie was convinced by her best friend Grace to take a DNA test, she learns that she had an extended family in England. Her cousin, Oliver, invites her to an upcoming wedding between the bride and the Lord of the Manor. While hesitant, Evie takes him up on the offer. Upon arriving, strange things happen such as maids going missing. When she meets Walter, he seduces her into kissing him.

Discovering that he kept volumes of files on her personal information, Evie is initially enraged, but forgives Walter as the two engage in sex. The next day at a banquet, Walter announces his intention of making Evie his third bride much to the latter's discomfort. It is there that the truth is revealed: Walter and his wives were vampires who had lived for centuries due to sharing blood with the Lord. The butler, Mr. Field, kills one of the maids and her blood is then given to the three vampires to drink.

Evie initially escapes thanks to Mrs. Swift's intervention (which leads to her being murdered). After being recaptured by an elderly couple, Evie appears in a bride dress and veil. In desperation, Evie sucks some of Walter's blood and stabs him. Viktoria angrily pursues her, but is stopped by a redeemed Lucy, who stabs herself and Viktoria through with a spike.

After stabbing Mr. Field in the throat when he revealed that he killed her great grandfather, Walter arrives and attempts to strangle Evie enraged that she rejected his offer of immortality. Using her quick thinking, Evie slices his arm off and kicks him into the flames.

However, on the alternative ending, reveals that he survived the fire and heading back to his hometown Romania through a cargo ship. What happens next is keep unknown.
