The War King (戰爭之王) is a secondary antagonist of Taiwanese animated series Brave Animated Series, based on the comic Brave Series (勇者系列) by Yellow Book. He is the warmongering successor to the previous, peace-seeking Old King, and the primary source of the renewed large-scale conflict between humans and demons.

He is voiced by Taiwanese dubbing actor Xu Huang Jia, who also voices Citizens in the same animated series.

Story[]

War King took the throne after the Old King—who favored peace—was mysteriously assassinated. Leveraging the tragic event, he immediately declared a full-scale war, accusing the Demon clan of the murder. He began actively recruiting more "Braves" and imposing harsh economic policies and treaties (like the "Hunting Ground Agreement") on non-human races to fund his campaigns and enrich his kingdom. His reign of terror and fear solidified the deep divisions in the world, exposing the corruption and hypocrisy within the Human Brave system. His actions ultimately forced the Brave, Fair Brave (who later becomes the new Demon King, Morewant), to challenge him. War King was eventually defeated and killed by Morewant in the last days of the war, though his toxic ideology and the system he reinforced continued to affect the kingdom.

Personality[]

War King is defined by his ruthless ambition and his militaristic mindset.

  • Genocidal: He actively calls for the complete extermination of the Demon Race, framing his war as a righteous crusade for human safety.
  • Authoritarian and Pragmatic: Despite his rhetoric of justice, his rule is highly pragmatic, focusing on maximizing state revenue. He views war and the subjugation of other races (such as the Dragons and Demons) as a profitable business venture.
  • Manipulative: He capitalizes on the grief following the Old King’s assassination to spread propaganda, consolidate power, and justify his extreme policies. (Even though Old Morewant later confirmed the killer was indeed a demon, he overinterpreted the incident.)

Appearance[]

War King sports fluffy pink hair and wears a headband set with red gems and two golden tusks. His face radiates malevolence, marked by a large orange-red scar across his right cheek. He dons golden armor, gauntlets, and riding boots paired with black trousers, a deep peach-colored belt, and a crimson cape.

Trivia[]

  • In the original comic, he once pleaded with Morewant face-to-face to cease his repeated wars against the Brave Kingdom. Morewant knew he rarely initiated conflicts; his title as "War King" stemmed from his belligerent and frenzied nature. The two of them were still chatting in the private chamber, discussing the unique challenges each faced in governing their respective realms. Water Demon even praised him as a good king who upheld martial virtue. After his death, the Grateful Demon, corrupted by Sorry Brave, used his body as a possessed puppet weapon.
