Warchimedes is a major antagonist in the anime series Chōdenji Robo Combattler V. He is Empress Janera's scientific and strategic advisor, and General Dungele's older brother.
He was voiced by the late Osamu Ichikawa, who had previously voiced Great General Garuda in the same series, and would go on to voice Prince Heinel in Voltes V and Richter in Tōshō Daimos.
Personality[]
Warchimedes is to Janera what Garuda is to Oreana, being her closest second-in-command. Compared to his younger brother Dungele, he is smarter and more sadistic. Being a brilliant but evil scientist, Warchimedes has helped Janera to build and select the Magma Beasts to fight Combattler V, and even willing to pilot one to help her destroy the Nanbara Connection.
Unfortunately for Warchimedes, Janera doesn't appreciate his effort and transfers his brain into a robot body after his defeat at the hands of Combattler V, even stating that she should never trust him and Dungele. Eventually, like how Garuda turns on Oreana upon feeling betrayed by the latter, Warchimedes also turns on Janera by self-destructing his own robot body to kill her as a payback for what she did to him.
History[]
After Oreana's death, Empress Janera decides to take the center stage in the invasion of Earth. She has Warchimedes and his younger brother General Dungele attack them. Warchimedes coordinates the building and selection of the Magma Beasts that are sent to fight Combattler V. After Dungele's death, Warchimedes pilots a Magma Beast to attack Combattler V and allows Janera the opportunity to destroy the Nanbara Connection. When he is defeated, Janera transfers his brain into a robot body.
Janera attempts to destroy Combattler V with a bomb attached to its foot, but Professor Yotsuya discovers the bomb in time to separate the foot and raise the Choudenji Barrier, sacrificing the Connection. Upon hearing about a revolt on Campbell, Janera makes a final attack on Earth and is defeated, but not before revealing that she has decided to deploy an "Earth Bomb" to destroy Earth. An injured Janera then tries to escape, only to be confronted by Warchimedes, who self-destructs to kill her.
