So how about it, Owl Lady? The most powerful witch of the Boiling Isles and the feared Warden Wrath. We'd be the strongest power couple ever. I mean, it's... it's not like you can say no right now.
~ The Warden to Eda.
Very good. Ah, Luz the Human. How I've waited to see you again. Now I'll have my revenge and you'll have front row seats to Eda's demise.
~ The Warden taunts Luz about Eda's capture.
I don't know! I don't know. I actually got demoted for stealing my coworker's lunches. I just wanted to feel in control again, you know? Okay, okay, okay. I don't know about Raine, but I have heard some things. The Day of Unity is supposedly going to unite us with the Titan, but some of us don't think this "new world" would be very inviting to magickind. Wild or not.
~ The Warden after being forced to admit about the true purpose of the Day of Unity to Eda.

Warden Wrath is a minor antagonist in the Disney Channel animated series The Owl House. He is the fearsome former warden and overseer of the Conformatorium, a prison for misfits and weirdos.

He was voiced by Roger Craig Smith, who also voiced Jacob Hopkins in the same show.

Appearance[]

Wrath is a humanoid demon with grey skin and large muscles. He wears a non-standard guard hood and a beaked mask with button-shaped yellow lenses, like the masks worn by plague doctors, doctors and nurses and plague doctors in the 17th century who treated plague victims in several European countries. Under the mask and hood, he conceals a huge mouth with large sharp teeth, as well as almost tiny eyes, which are difficult to see under the hood that he has not removed. He wears a white sleeveless tunic with brass buttons, a brown leather belt with a brass buckle, and black pants tucked into dark purple shoes. On the uniform is a bronze triangular badge, which seems to emphasize his position.

In his casual wear, Wrath doesn't don his mask anymore and instead wears a brown hood, a dirty black medieval vest and a white shirt. He wears a brown belt and pants as well as black boots.

After he is fed an altered Blabber Serum by Edric, Warden Wrath assumes a much more monstrous form, resembling a pterodactyl without a beak. He is much larger, around the size of the Bonesborough Brawl arena and his tusks are much larger. He also has a tail but somehow retains his regular coven outfit.

Personality[]

Wrath is a cruel and intimidating warden who manifests on rebellious prisoners with an inherent temper. However, he isn't completely heartless, as he developed a crush on Eda Clawthorne for escaping from him multiple times and he does care for his son Braxas. He is something of a coward if confronted by someone stronger than he is, and easily intimidated by a show of brute force.

Biography[]

A Lying Witch and a Warden[]

Warden Wrath serves as the titular main antagonist of the first episode. Prior to the episode's events, he stole King's crown in an attempt to lure his roommate, Eda to the Conformatorium so he could apprehend/propose to her.

Luz and King sneak in the prison tower and met the inmates who have been imprisoned for being different and do not fit in with the city. The Warden hears the prisoners and sees a wanted poster of Eda and promising to capture her. One of the prisoners spread their conspiracy theories and Wrath takes her and punishes her, but not before warning the others that they will never belong if they don't fit in.

After they found King's crown which turns out to be a kid's meal crown through the force field and regroup with Eda, Wrath appears and beheads Eda, which annoys her. Once he captures them, Wrath asks Eda on a date, but she rejects him by blowing a raspberry at his face, who starts to whine about all the germs in her mouth. Before they could escape, Wrath catches up and fights Eda. Luz encourages the prisoners to help and fight Wrath together. The prisoners tied his hands and pinned down, Luz throws a firework rocket into his mouth and it explodes, causing him to run back into the prison tower.

Young Blood, Old Souls[]

Warden Wrath makes his second appearance in the season finale. After Luz and King are arrested and brought to the Conformatorium, he gloats that he has captured Luz and will make her watch Eda's petrification. When he opens the prison van's doors, Luz subdues him with her spell glyphs, pins him down and forces him to tell her where Eda is and to draw her a map to Eda's cell. In fear for his life, he complies.

Wrath is last seen in the episode being berated by Kikimora for his failure.

Into the Looking-Glass Ruins[]

Warden Wrath makes a minor appearance off-duty in this episode where he witnesses Bria and her gang save his son Braxas from a rampaging Slitherbeast. He checks on his son and thanks the Glandus students, with the incidence amazing Gus so much he joins the students on an adventure.

Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door[]

Hooty used a picture of Warden Wrath for his demonology board of biped demons.

Yesterday's Lie[]

Warden Wrath made a non-speaking cameo appearance in one of Vee's flashbacks. Warden Wrath was briefly seen taking notes on Vee's magic-draining abilities.

Reaching Out[]

Warden Wrath is encountered yet again as champion of the Bonesborough Brawl. Seeing him, Eda decides to try and squeeze some information out of him about the Day of Unity and the true circumstances about her lover Raine's sudden personality change, but as the two begin to fight she's dragged off by security. As Amity decides to participate in the Brawl, Eda decides to take this opportunity to formulate a plan to make Wrath spill his secrets and, enlisting the help of Amity's brother Edric, begins to brew a Blabber Serum.

At the Brawl's finale, Amity prepares to face off Wrath, only for her dad Alador to arrive, furious at her for skipping Coven tryouts. He subdues Wrath in Abomination fluid, giving Edric a chance to feed Wrath the Blabber Serum. However, thanks to adding Firebee Honey in an attempt to speed up the heating process, Edric has unknowingly altered the potion and Wrath mutates into a humongous pteranodon-like monster. Eda is forced to transform into her harpy form to fend him off but Wrath effortlessly beats her back. Fortunately Luz arrives and volunteers to help subdue the mutation using an ice glyph. Amity also partners with her father and, fusing both their Abominations together, create a stronger one that manages to bind Wrath and keep him in place. With the combined team effort, Luz sends a downpour of snow onto Wrath, cooling him off and returning him to his normal form.

Eda pulls Wrath out of the snow and begins questioning him, to which he reveals that he actually has been demoted for stealing his coworkers' food and knows nearly nothing. However he does tell her of rumors that the "new world" promised by the Day of Unity may not be favourable to any magical beings, to which Eda shoves him back into the snow. Edric arrives to apologise for his mishap, to which Eda forgives him and proclaims the transformation serum he created could be a new bestseller, though she does point out Wrath's nausea as a side effect. Wrath is then left stuck in the snow as the group leaves, leaving him alone to find a way out.

King's Tide[]

According to Dana Terrace, Warden Wrath was finding a safe place to hide and protect his son Braxas during the Day of Unity.

For the Future[]

While Wrath himself isn't seen, it's revealed that he was turned into a puppet by the Collector. His son, Braxas is seen dressed in a costume similar to his, swearing to save his father as he and the other children rip up a doll of the Collector to practice their battle tactics.

Watching and Dreaming[]

Wrath was restored to his regular form shortly after Belos's defeat like all the other Boiling Isles inhabitants. Four years after the events of the series, he appears to have left the Emperor's Coven and redeemed himself. Wrath appears alongside his son Braxas, who receives his own axolotl palisman from Hunter, who now works as a palisman carver under Dell Clawthorne.
