Warlocks are the male equivalents of Beldams. They are a form of wizards or sorcerers and the word has been used to describe a male witchcraft practitioner.
History[]
Traits[]
Warlocks are often envisioned as ugly old men in black robes. Modern versions of warlocks depict them in pointy hats but this doesn’t apply to all warlocks.
Powers and Abilities[]
Like beldams, Warlocks are devoted completely to black magic. The Warlock is either incapable or simply refuses to cast any good spell or potion. Thus a Warlock is forever working on ways to ruin and harm his surroundings, often for his own amusement. Warlocks can summon demons and evil spirits create poisons and plagues, and he may turn into varied vermin or animals so as to go unseen or capture victims. He can cast horrible curses that ruin crops, bring misfortune to others or even transform victims into completely different things (such as toads, trees or inanimate objects).
Warlocks may guise themselves as kind old men in order to lure children away, with some Warlocks even using their magic to create beautiful surroundings, tasty treats or other seemingly benevolent things yet these always end up being illusions and crumble away once his victim is caught, revealing his true form, dark powers, evil minions, and many other atrocities.
