The Warlord is the main antagonist of the expanded campaign of Quake 2, The Reckoning.

He is an identical Makron who was a member of a system of Strogg Warlords that govern the Strogg civilization and selected to be another Makron to become the successor of the original Makron who died by the hands of Bitterman. As a Makron, the Warlord takes measures to command the Strogg and to defend the Strogg moonbase from Joker.

Biography[]

The Warlord was a member of a system of Strogg Warlords who command the Strogg civilization and given locations to lead and control through their strategy. By the time the Makron has been killed, the Warlord was elected by the Nexus to be next Makron as his successor and guardian of the Strogg moon base. To pull up a new strategy to turn the tide against the human invasion, the Warlord led the Strogg counter-fleet to oppress the human fleet He would then order the Strogg to take down a human squadron which resulted in almost the death of every soldier in the squad, including Rampage, with the exception of Joker.

Gaining the intelligence that Joker is still alive, the Warlord ordered all Strogg to be in their defensive strategy to guard the moon base in order to prevent the destruction of the Strogg fleet. The defensive strategy ordered by the Warlord, however, proves to be much more difficult as Joker discovers the fleet's location, destroyed their fuel plan and captures a Strogg Freighter to enter the moon base. Not wishing for the moon base to be obliterated, the Warlord decides to guard the reactor and operate the Jorg in a spare model to await for Joker's arrival to fight and kill him.

Sensing Joker's arrival, the Warlord operates the Jorg to fight against Joker to prevent him from shutting down the reactor. Joker manages to destroy the Jorg with him being completely destroyed and leaving the Warlord exposed from the explosion. Not backing down, the Warlord personally fights against Joker only to meet his destruction as well. His death eventually led to Joker shutting down the reactor and escaping the moon base, resulting in its destruction and the Strogg counter-fleet to be obliterated soon after.

Trivia[]

  • Since the Warlord's model is the same one of that of the Makron's, it became a debate whether this was the same Makron or a completely different one.
    • This would be further suggested to be confirmed this is a different character as in the expandsion of Quake 2: Remastered, Call of the Machine, as four other identical Makrons appear as bosses and associates of the Masters of the Machine.
