The Wasp Kingdom are the main antagonists of the 2019 role-playing video game Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling. They are composed of many kinds of wasps and are led by the Wasp King, who usurped the Kingdom's former Queen, Vanessa, and brainwashed every wasp in the kingdom to serve him.
Biography[]
Past[]
Long before the Ant Kingdom had settled in Bugaria, the Wasp Kingdom has lived in territory at north of Bugaria's borders, controlling most of the Far Grasslands and Wild Swamplands. They were aggressive isolationists, with even the youth being given military training, attacking anyone who dared to intrude on their lands, and, when the Bee Kingdom settled in the northern Bugaria, the two neighboring kingdoms were often battling for territory in a war that lasted for many moons.
They settled only when Queen Elizant I intervened, managing to non-violently form the peace between the ants, bees, and wasps. However, after Elizant I's passing, her daughter, Queen Elizant II, was not able to maintain the relationship with the wasps due to her own inexperience, resurfacing the bad blood between the ants and wasps.
Queen Vanessa II, ruler of the Wasp Kingdom, attempted to keep the wasps peaceful, which made her very controversial among her people, but she still maintained success, until the Wasp King had arrived, using the power of the Ancient Crown to brainwash nearly every wasp in the kingdom and dethrone the queen, seizing the throne for himself.
Bug Fables[]
Wasp Kingdom makes their first move in Chapter 2: Sacred Golden Hills, where two Wasp Troopers were interrogating Professor Neolith, demanding him to reveal information about the artifacts needed to find the Everlasting Sapling, trying to kill him when he replied he didn't know. The troopers were stopped by the combined efforts of Team Snakemouth and Team Celia, who managed to defeat and ward them off. At one point, wasps also tried to invade the Golden Hills to obtain its artifact, but were foiled by Acolyte Aria.
Later, in Chapter 3: Factory Investigation, the Wasp Kingdom hired the bandits to defeat Team Snakemouth. When Team Snakemouth met up with Gen, Eri, and the travelling caravan, the Wasp Scouts and the bandits attacked. Recognizing Team Snakemouth as the ones who defeated the Wasp Troopers from earlier, they attempted to kill them to prevent them from foiling their plans, but were thwarted once again and were forced to escape.
In Chapter 4: Mysterious Lost Sands, the bandits finally managed to capture Team Snakemouth and were planning to hand them over to wasps, but the wasps refused to uphold their end of the bargain, losing the bandits' support. As revenge, Astotheles allowed Team Snakemouth to have the piece of the Sand Castle Key in hopes that they would defeat the wasps.
But once Team Snakemouth manages to find the final artifact in the Sand Castle, the Wasp Kingdom had invaded the Ant Kingdom City, with the Wasp King himself leading the assault. The Wasp King storms into the castle, defeating the guards on the way, and demands Queen Elizant II to hand over the artifacts. Team Snakemouth attempts to fight him, but he immediately defeats them with the flame pillar, and then proceeds to take the Ancient Key piece from Leif. He attempts to take the rest from the Queen, but was stopped by Maki and was forced to escape and call his forces to retreat.
Queen Elizant was determined to return the stolen piece of the Ancient Key and ordered Team Snakemouth and Maki to arrive into their hive and retrieve it. After venturing through the Wild Swamplands, Team Snakemouth arrives into the Wasp Kingdom Hive, where they are surprised to discover it was in extreme state of poverty, with many homes being dilapidated and boarded up. They also discover several citizens of the Ant Kingdom were kidnapped and held prisoner, with one child prisoner left starving in their cell, and another being the wasp who explained that everyone in the Wasp Kingdom, including his best friend, went insane and unreasonable. During their investigations, Team Snakemouth meets Jayde, the Wasp Kingdom's resident janitor, who, believing them to be fictional superheroes Bug Rangers, explains that every wasp had lost their mind ever since the Wasp King had arrived, and asks them to save their kingdom, giving them the key that would allow them to get into the throne room.
In the throne room, the team encounters General Ultimax, the military commander of the Wasp Kingdom, who claims they were watching Team Snakemouth's every step and waited until he would make his appearance, and, claiming that no one shall disturb his king in his quarters, then proceeds to call his troops. However, Team Snakemouth manages to defeat Ultimax and his troops, knocking the general out of their way and going right into the royal quarters. But instead of the king, they find Queen Vanessa II, the true ruler of the Wasp Kingdom, usurped and held captive in her own castle, and reveals that the Wasp King left with the artifact into the Ant Kingdom and left the general in charge. Discovering that they were lied to, Team Snakemouth, with Vanessa and Maki, escape back into the Ant Kingdom, only to find that it was not invaded. Feeling that something isn't right, Vanessa, Maki and his team enter the Anthill Palace.
There, they discover the Wasp King who manages to defeat Maki and once again demands the artifacts from the injured Queen. Defeating Team Snakemouth again, Wasp King threatens Elizant to hand over the artifact, and the Queen, having no choice, surrenders them, as Wasp King boasts about how he would obtain the Everlasting Sapling and everybody will fall to their knees before him, and leaves. After that, Wasp Kingdom forces occupy the Rubber Prison, which is the only known way into the Giant's Lair, where the Everlasting Sapling is rumored to be held. To make sure no one will follow them, they release all of the prisoners to cause mayhem, and sink all of the Ant Kingdom's ships. However, Team Snakemouth and Queen Elizant manage to enlist Termite Kingdom's help and, with their help, they obtain the submarine, allowing them to travel to Rubber Prison, while termite engineers repair the sunken ships.
Team Snakemouth manages to fight their way through the hordes of wasps and escaped convicts before encountering the Wasp King and his troops, breaking through the gate to the Giant's Lair. Not wanting to deal with them, Wasp King orders Ultimax to not allow anyone to follow them through the gate. However, despite the fact that Ultimax was operating the tank, Team Snakemouth manages to defeat him anyway and, when his brainwashment prevents him from retreating, they freeze him and leave him at the Ant Kingdom.
In the Giant's Lair, Wasp King proceeds to travel through the Dead Lands, sacrificing his wasps to the Dead Landers, and activates the stove that threatened to burn the nearly Roach village down. Team Snakemouth and their allies finally manage to track Wasp King down and defeat him, even after he used the power of the Everlasting Sapling to turn himself into the Everlasting King. As the Everlasting King loses control of his powers and gets turned into an inanimate tree, the wasps get freed from their brainwashing and try to make amends for all evil they committed while brainwashed.
