The Watermelon Stevens were former antagonists of Steven Universe who debuted in the episode, "Watermelon Steven". They only had one villainous role in the series before redeeming themselves in their next appearance.
Appearance[]
The Watermelon Stevens are Steven-shaped watermelons, and resemble the pattern of a watermelon. They have the ability to spit out watermelon seeds from their mouth.
Personality[]
In their debut, they act as bodyguards to Steven, attacking anyone who hurts him, even their own kind. They are brave and courageous when inspired, going as far to risk their lives.
Biography[]
Watermelon Steven[]
Due to Steven spitting out multiple seeds, they grow overnight, and n the next morning, they grow into Watermelon Stevens. Among them, Steven finds a Baby Melon. At first, Steven thinks that they are inanimate, but when Onion steals Baby Melon, he runs to Steven. This prompts Steven to go around giving everyone a refund for the Watermelon Steven back. When Steven tells the Gems about them, the Gems attack them, but soon, they are overpowered. However, Baby Melon stops the fight by redirecting all the Watermelon Stevens to him, causing him to be killed. Steven tells off the Watermelon Stevens and sends them away,
Super Watermelon Island[]
One of the Watermelon Stevens get possessed by Steven. All of them are called for a meeting. They play a game of "Nose Goes", as the possessed Watermelon Steven is chosen and taken to a cliff, where he is told to go in the same pose Baby Melon went into before he left. Malachite then rises, as she eats the Watermelon Steven. When Alexandrite goes to confront Malachite, the Watermelon Stevens go hiding, but another possessed Watermelon Steven manages to get them to fight back against Malachite. They use catapults, arrows, their fists, etc. It is enough to distract Malachite from Alexandrite, freeing them from Malachite’s grasp, resulting in Alexandrite defeating Malachite.
Escapism[]
Yet again, a Watermelon Steven is possessed by Steven in order to tell Bismuth and Greg that they need help on Homeworld. The other Watermelon Stevens help the possessed one get to Beach City, as the warp pad was destroyed by Malachite in their previous appearance.
Villainous Acts[]
- They attacked and tried to kill the Crystal Gems in their debut.
- They killed Baby Melon, who was only an infant.
