John "Webby" Garton is a minor antagonist in Stephen King's It and its 2019 film adaptation IT: Chapter 2. He is a xenophobic teenager who attacks a gay couple he sees at a carnival.
Adrian Mellon and his partner, Don Hagarty, were beaten after the festival they attended when Adrian won the "I love Derry" hat, making it easy for the gang to find Adrian and Don. The gang had often teased Adrian and been harsh to him for being gay, but the fact that an officer had stopped them during a confrontation (which only made him angrier. ) Adrian and Don both received severe beatings in retaliation for beating him in the minigame, and Chris and Webby also threw Don over a river. Don and Chris found Adrian drowning because he couldn't swim and Pennywise had devoured his armpit. There were just Webby and the Scuzzahs present before to Chris' arrest. Webby also appeared to be the most aggressive of the four, despite the fact that he and Chris Unwin were essentially the two leaders.
2019[]
He is the leader of a homophobic group that attacks Adrian Mellon and Don Hagarty in the 2019 movie. He severely attacks Adrian and attempts to toss him into the Derry River from a bridge, but a passing train scares him and his friends away.
Webby seems to be older than he is in the book. The actor Jake Weary plays him. He is somewhat less evil than in the novel since, unlike in the 1986 source material, he didn't whip out a switchblade and repeatedly stab Adrian.
