“ | They shall be slashed, strangled, and slaughtered. Beaten, stabbed, and crushed. Garrotted and impaled. Shot and executed... without mercy. Now... let the hunt begin! | „ |
~ A digital recreation of Weiss addressing his enemies. |
Weiss, also known as Weiss the Immaculate, is a minor antagonist in the Episode INTERmission DLC for the 2020 video game Final Fantasy VII Remake. He was a peerless SOLDIER who reigned supreme over Deepground, a clandestine research program ran by the Shinra Electric Power Company. He and his younger brother Nero were both bloodthirsty killers who enjoyed the thrill of the hunt.
Weiss is voiced by Jouji Nakata in Japanese and by Daman Mills in English. Nakata has also voiced Kirei Kotomine in Fate. Mills has also voiced Frieza in Dragon Ball, Kaworu Nagisa in Neon Genesis Evangelion, Mustard and Moonfish in My Hero Academia, and Diablo in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
Appearance[]
Weiss was a tall man with light skin, a muscular build, and shoulder-length long spiky white hair that stuck up in all directions and partially covered the right side of his face. Like a majority of SOLDIERs, Weiss had iridescent turquoise eyes as a result of the mako infused to his body. In Deepground, the Immaculate wore white pants, a fabric black belt, the black knee-high boots worn by Deepground SOLDIERs, and an open white overcoat that failed to hide his bare chest. When he went to retrieve Genesis Rhapsodos, he wore an outfit more akin to a standard First Class SOLDIER uniform consisting of a black sleeveless turtleneck sweater, black pauldrons, black baggy pants fastened by brown suspenders, a pair of dark brown gloves and boots, and a large iron belt with the Deepground emblem emblazoned on it.
Biography[]
Weiss was a SOLDIER who ruled Deepground, a top-secret underground research facility ran by the Shinra Electric Power Company. He and his younger brother Nero were considered the most dangerous operatives of Deepground. Fearful of the power the brothers possessed, Shinra had Weiss and Nero confined in Deepground whenever they weren't needed for an assignment. Weiss was bound to a throne and Nero was placed in a containment cell opposite him.
A New Brother[]
“ | Nero: This must be an important matter if they are sending the two of us. Weiss: Humph. Apparently the subject will become our brother. Nero: Is that so? But, will he... Weiss: Accept his fate willingly? |

~ Weiss and Nero upon retrieving Genesis Rhapsodos. |
In September of the year 0007, Weiss and Nero were sent on a mission to retrieve Genesis Rhapsodos. Rhapsodos was a First Class SOLDIER who had gone rogue and had been subsequently defeated by Zack Fair, another rogue First Class SOLDIER, in the ruins of a small farming town called Banora. Shinra intended for Rhapsodos to undergo experimentation in Deepground, and so despite their importance, it was left up the brothers to perform the simple extraction mission. Arriving in the town by helicopter, Weiss and Nero found Rhapsodos's unconscious body and brought him back to base.
Immaculate Replication[]
“ | Weiss: These idiots want to "digitally replicate" me, so I'm indulging them. Nero: When will Shinra learn? There is no replicating you. They ought to know better. |
„ |
~ Weiss discussing Shinra's replication of him with his brother. |
On December 12, 0007, Shinra scientists hooked Weiss on his throne up to a device that copied his neural information. Their goal was to use the neural information to create a copy of Weiss in virtual reality that could be fought in the Shinra Combat Simulator for training. While Weiss was hooked up to the device, Nero was released from his containment to deal with a pair of intruders rampaging through the building's Advanced Weaponry Division. Nero commented that he thought the effort to digitize Weiss was foolhardy as he believed the Immaculate couldn't be truly replicated.
Equipment[]
- Swords: The Immaculate One's weapons of choice were a pair of katanas which he kept in a pair of scabbards on his back when he wasn't using them. The katanas each had a lever-action rifle built into them that allowed Weiss to catch his opponents off guard by pelting them with semi-automatic gunfire.
Trivia[]
- Weiss was based off of the character of the same name from the continuity of the original Final Fantasy VII video game, who appeared as an antagonist in the 2006 video game Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII.
