Wen is the main antagonist of the Cowboy Bebop episode "Sympathy for the Devil". He was a young boy who became immortal after the Astral Gate Incident, but lost his parents in that event and started kidnapping old men to make it look like they're his father or guardian.

In the Japanese version, he was voiced by Yumi Touma, and in the English dub, he was voiced by Mona Marshall.

History[]

When was once a normal boy who liked to play harmonica with his parents, until one day when he was 12, the Astral Gate Incident happened, killing his parents and making him completely immortal with agelessness properties. After this event, he was experimented on for the next 50 years in a secret facility.

When two members of the Self Defense Volunteer Squad named Giraffe and Zebra tried to reclaim the facility, Wen used the opportunity to kidnap Zebra and lied about him being his father as cover for him for the next 10 years. During those years, Giraffe searched for Zebra, only for him to find both Zebra and Wen in a hotel, with Giraffe demanding for Wen to release him by threatening to shoot him with a gem that would stop Wen from continuing to be immortal.

After this, Wen shot Giraffe and caused him to fall out of the hotel's window. Luckily, Spike was there and was able to catch him before he fell. However, he was mortally wounded by the injury from Wen's bullet wound, and asked Spike in his final moments to save Zebra.

Wen would later trick Spike into going into a warehouse where he shot him in the arm and attempted to kill him, but he was able to shoot him and save Zebra, although Wen was able to escape. He later stole a taxi cab and killed its driver so he could escape the city, but Spike is able to catch him and causes Wen to crash into a gas station, blowing it up as a result while Wen survived without any injuries. Spike then kills him by shooting him in the head with the crystal, causing him to die of accelerated aging. Before his death, he was finally happy to be able to die and asks Spike if he understood, although he also asks how he could.
