Wendy Spector is a minor antagonist in the 2022 Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe series Moon Knight.

She was the wife of Elias Spector as well as the mother of Randall and Marc Spector. Following Randall's death, Wendy was driven mad with grief and became increasingly abusive towards Marc, blaming him for his brother's death, which caused Marc to develop Disassociative Identity Disorder and form the alters Steven Grant and Jake Lockley.

She was portrayed by Fernanda Andrade, who also played Itzpapalotl in From Dusk Till Dawn.

History[]

One day during Marc Spector's childhood in Chicago, while their parents cooked a barbecue, he brought his brother Randall to play in a cave against their mother's warnings, which ended with Randall drowning after the cave flooded.

For this, Wendy came to resent Marc greatly, publicly blaming him at Randall's funeral. She became emotionally cold to him up to his 12th birthday, when she chased him to his room and ruthlessly bashed her son with a belt. Unknown to everyone, this incident was the last straw for Marc, who developed a dissociative identity disorder to cope with her maltreatment, leading the alternate personality of Steven Grant to manifest within Marc's mind. Another, more sinister personality called Jake Lockley also manifested at some point thanks to this.

The severity of Wendy's abuse eventually forced Marc to leave home, and after Wendy died, Marc refused to attend her funeral despite his father's pleas. However, Steven would hold false memories of her being a nice person whom he talked to on the phone regularly.

Personality[]

Wendy Spector was once a loving, kind mother, but the tragedy of Randall's death twisted her sanity into despising her remaining son, scapegoating him for the incident and taking out her hatred by abusing him. Her rage at Marc was completely unjustified and Wendy didn't seem to notice that had she not entrusted Marc with his brother's care, Randall's death could have been prevented. Her vicious turn left Marc with no desire to mourn her by the time she passed away.

Trivia[]

Despite that the show implies that Wendy passed away after years of heavy drinking, it's theorized by some that maybe Wendy didn't pass away naturally but was instead murdered by Jake Lockley, Marc's second alter, which could very well be the case given how Steven Grant is shown to have manifested due to Wendy's torment of Marc, and Lockley is shown to be rather sadistic and vengeful.
