A-hunting we shall go, A-hunting we shall go...
~ The Werewolf's hunting song.

The Werewolf is a minor antagonist of Rusty Quill horror podcast The Magnus Archives, serving as the main antagonist of Mag 31: First Hunt. He was an American man with supernatural powers living in the mountains in Virginia. There, he hunted animals and oftentimes humans as well.

Appearance[]

The Werewolf normally appeared a normal man, being thin and short with long shaggy hair and a somewhat messy goatee. When on the hunt in the moonlight, all his features were described as sharper, and he apparently had claws. He wore durable hiking clothes, but no jacket.

Personality[]

The Werewolf seemed to be a vicious adrenaline junkie with no sense of empathy for remorse for the horrors he inflicted on others. He enjoyed violence and cherished the thrill of the hunt, often toying with his victims. Although he was capable of acting human, he always seemed off-putting, and when he finally became fully involved in the hunt, he acted more wolf-like than human-like. He also seemed to have a twisted sense of humor and was amused by his prey's fear.

Biography[]

The Werewolf seemed to have lived in the mountains of Virginia for some time, and seemed to have hunted humans before. In 2010, he met two men hunting animals named Lawrence Mortimer and Arden Neeli. After checking to see if they would be good victims, he left them.

The next day, when they briefly separated, he attacked Arden and tore out his throat. When Lawrence found the body, the Werewolf began to chase him through the wood. The hunt went on for the rest of the day, with the Werewolf toying with him and driving him in circles. Eventually at night, he finally caught up with him and prepared to strike him but was surprised when Lawrence deflected the blow. With the Werewolf briefly incapacitated, Lawrence was able to grab Arden's gun and shot the creature several times. This hurt the Werewolf but did not kill it. Lawrence was able to escape, and the lycanthrope presumably continued its hunting.

Powers and Abilities[]

The Werewolf seemed to have supernatural powers, which were not explicitly explained. It was able to tear out a man's throat, and Lawrence described as moving faster than a normal human. Most notably, it was able to remain relatively uninjured after being shot several times.

Trivia[]

  • The Werewolf is strongly implied to be an avatar of the Hunt.
