The name is Werner Werman. I hereby claim ownership of this cottage and all its contents. YOU WILL LEAVE IMMEDIATE!
~ Werner Werman

Werner Werman (pronounced Verner Verman in German) is a minor antagonist in The Cuphead Show!, serving as the main antagonist of the Season 2 episode "Rats All, Folks".

He is a German rat who went into Elder Kettle’s cottage after Cuphead and Mugman left the door open.

He was voiced by Chris Kattan in his third villainous role.

Biography[]

Background[]

As with the game, it can be assumed that Werner is a veteran of World War I. After the war, Werner started scavenging around, looking for a place to take over as his base.

Season 2[]

Rats All, Folks[]

Shortly before the events of the episode, he enters Elder Kettle's cottage through the front door which Cuphead and Mugman left open. He was found by Mugman in a cabinet in the kitchen while they were making a cake for Elder Kettle. Knowing how much their caretaker hates vermin, they attempt to get rid of him. They fight back and forth for a while, Tom and Jerry style, which eventually alerts the attention of Elder Kettle. He battles Werner and wins, but he manages to escape. With Cuphead and Mugman still pinned to the wall from their battle, Werner gags them and fills their with dynamite, threatening to kill them if Kettle doesn't surrender. Elder Kettle decides to hand over the deed to the cottage, handing Werner his pen, which turns out to be dynamite. Werner gets blown up, and leaves in his soup can tank.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike in the game, he plays a villainous role.
  • His cigar was removed in this version, as the show is rated TV-Y7.
  • In the game, he was presented as being roughly Elder Kettle's height, but in the show, he is the same size as a regular rat.
  • At the end of Rats All, Folks, he suddenly speaks in an American accent, implying that his German accent is fake.
  • He is likely a parody on Tom and Jerry type cartoons.
    • Similarly, the title of the episode he appears in, Rats All, Folks, is a reference to the classic Looney Tunes cartoons, as each one of them ends off with a character (usually Porky Pig) saying That's all, folks!
  • His last name Werman (pronounced with a V at the beginning) is likely a play on the word vermin, due to him being a rat.
