| ~ Whirlpool upon seeing Coral and Anemone and meeting Tsunami. |
Whirlpool is a major antagonist of the Wings of Fire book series, serving as a major antagonist in The Lost Heir and one of the overarching antagonists of Talons of Power.
He was an adult SeaWing who was a aristocratic scriber and a member of the SeaWing Council. Whirlpool was set on convincing Queen Coral to marry Anemone (primarily so he can be king) as well as informing Princess Blister of her animus progress, which would have resulted in her being taken into the war. This resulted in the young princess to retaliate in self-defense by knocking him into a moat full of electric eels, accidentally killing him in the process.
Appearance[]
Whirlpool has dark green scales with some light green scales. On his spine, there are wave patterns. His claws bear golden rings, which is strange considering his talons are webbed. His pale green eyes look like a frog and pops out of his sockets. His teeth are oddly small. Ink stains are on his talons due to his job with Queen Coral's scrolls and he wears a large hoop of gold as an earring. Queen Coral described him as handsome, however, she was just trying to get Tsunami to like him.
Personality[]
Although Coral believed him to be a wonderful teacher, Whirlpool usually avoided more claws-on training in favor of traditional literature, even if the latter hindered his pupils.
When Whirlpool talks, he drags on and on with his oily and oozing voice. Anemone theorized that it was Whirlpool's intention to use her animus magic so she'd go crazy and kill Coral, hoping to become king. Whirlpool was very greedy, shown by the fact that he wanted to marry simply for riches, treasure and fame. Thanks to Whirlpool, the only thing Anemone moves with her magic during her animus lessons is inanimate objects, which made her very bored. Coral thought he was a wonderful teacher, but she was wrong, as he doesn't listen to (nor care about) his students unless it's for his own personal gain.
Biography[]
Death[]
After the magic narwhal spear reveals Whirlpool was the one who blinded and attacked Tsunami, Whirlpool talks about how impressed he is with Anemone's power, threatening to tell Blister and Coral about her growth. In defense, Anemone attacked him with the spear and he fell into the moat that surrounded the prison. The electric eels in the moat shocked him, resulting in his death. This allowed the dragonets of destiny to escape, given the eels needed to recharge.
Despite his death, it left a negative impact on Anemone to the point where she eventually believed that she was a killer through her animus magic along with being too far gone. As a result, she became much more aggressive, hostile, and antagonistic throughout the second arc, to the point of becoming a temporary pawn to Darkstalker. Most of which was due to Whirlpool's corrupting influence and the unfortunate events surrounding them.
