White (ホワイト, Howaito) is a minor but important antagonist in the Bleach franchise.
He's an experimental Hollow used by Sōsuke Aizen many years prior to his defection from Soul Society. It was created with the Souls of several Shinigami.
Biography[]
White was created by Sōsuke Aizen from the souls of at least several Shinigami he killed. Due to these murders, the then captain of the 10th Division, Isshin Shiba, was supposed to look into the whole matter, which led to a fight between the captain and the White.
During the fight, a young Quincy, Masaki Kurosaki, joined in and tried to help Isshin. The White then lunged at Masaki, biting into her arm, and she fired a Heilig Pfeil at his head. Suffering serious injuries, the White self-destructed, forcing Isshin to shield Masaki with his own body.
Despite his apparent death, the White managed to enter her soul with his bite and cause Masaki to develop Hollowfication, which was remedied when Isshin, using a special gigai created by Kisuke Urahara, managed to fuse his soul with both Masaki's and and with the White, suppressing her Hollowfication. The White's influence over Masaki was then transferred to her son, Ichigo Kurosaki, as the White managed to connect with his Shinigami power and become his Zanpakutō - Zangetsu.
Appearance[]
Despite its name, White has the appearance of an almost all-black Hollow, with a white face with long white hair and a pair of forward-curving horns on the sides of its head. Instead of hands, he has a pair of long blades.
Personality[]
Due to the fact that he is a fusion of at least several souls of slain Shinigami, White does not seem to have any specific personality. Like every Hollow, he acts completely instinctively, targeting the weakest victims on the battlefield. He acts in a completely cold and calculating manner.
Trivia[]
- Sōsuke Aizen considers its name, White, to be ironic, for White has a black exterior but an "inner whiteness", due to its origins as the Souls of several Shinigami.
