Wilhelmina Whack Witchiepoo (simply known as Witchiepoo) is a kooky old witch and the main antagonist of the 1969 TV series H.R. Pufnstuf. Her sole desire was to steal the magical talking flute named Freddy from the protagonist of the series Jimmy and his dragon friend named H.R. Pufnstuf. She has a vast arsenal of magical abilities and machines, and numerous minions of all types who aided in her plans to torment Living Island and its inhabitants.
It was her boat, disguised as a beautiful sailing vessel, that first tricked Jimmy into leaving our world and ending up on Living Island. Like any Krofft big bad, she spent a great deal of her time preventing Jimmy from ever leaving her world, presumably because this would place the flute beyond her grasp. Also, she had the prerequisite colorful incompetent minions. Like many (if not most) 'quest' shows from this era, the conflict was never resolved either way.
She was played by Billy Hayes, who revived her role on another Sid & Marty Krofft show, Lidsville, where she briefly dated the series' antagonist, Horatio J. HooDoo. On the 1976 Paul Lynde Halloween Special, she again reprised her role as Witchiepoo, in this case teaming up with no less than Margaret Hamilton, reprising her iconic 1939 role as the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard Of Oz.
