Wilhelmina Witch, nicknamed Willie by Lion and Wil by Mitch, is the niece of the Wicked Witches of the West and East and one of the two main antagonists (alongside her West aunt) of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz. She is Dorothy Gale's second arch-nemesis.

She was voiced by Jessica DiCicco.

Biography[]

She was away at Witch Finishing School during the events of the original movie, and during the flashback explaining the witch's survival after being vaporized by Dorothy, it shows her getting back just after the witch was defeated and before the Wizard left via balloon. This was analogous to an earlier flashback where Ozma was shown getting back from Princess Finishing School before ascending the throne as Queen.

She often makes plans to get rid of Dorothy and her friends and obtain the Ruby Slippers so that she and her aunt can rule the Land of Oz, but is foiled every time.

Appearance[]

Like her two aunts and most witches, she has green skin. She also has black hair with green streaks, rosy cheeks and black eyes. She wears a purple dress with a black belt and a gold buckle, a purple witch hat with a black band, and a purple cape. She also wears a pair of black boots with heels and striped leggings in different shades of purple.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Black Magic: She is able to cast certain spells (such as firing magic blasts from her hands or brainwashing people into loving her), sometimes requiring vocalizing words.
  • Pyrokinesis: In "Time After Time" when she is angry at a flowerpot falling on her head, it bursts into flames, indicating she has at least latent pyrokinetic abilities like her aunt, though perhaps not as developed (such as throwing fireballs).
  • Flight: She is able to fly with the aid of a broomstick. Wilhelmina's Broom apparently requires the aid of her magic (can't fly on his own) since in The Old Classic she is unable to fly when Ozma strips her of her powers for three days.
  • Invisibility: She turns invisible and takes the ruby slippers when Dorothy is swimming without them, but Toto stops her.
  • Immunity to water: Unlike her aunt, water does not seem to bother her, as her hair gets wet walking home in The Old Classic.
  • Above-Average Strength: She's strong enough to carry Cowardly Lion by his tail, spin him around and even throw him.

Personality[]

Wilhelmina Witch is the spoiled and sarcastic niece of the Wicked Witch of the West, and the Wicked Witch of the East. Like her aunt, Wilhelmina's always scheming of ways of trying to get her hands on Dorothy's Ruby Slippers, but she never succeeded. Until in "The Return of the Silver Slippers," when her aunt tricked Dorothy and the gang disguising herself as the Magic Cobbler.

Wilhelmina may be young, but she's not all sugar and spice as you thought she'd be. She can be very rude, sassy, mean and abusive to nearly everyone, especially Dorothy and her friends, and even to her two banana-brained monkeys, Frank and Lyman.

However, Wilhelmina has shown to have a good side in her, although she very rarely shows it. This was shown when she did good deeds to get rid of a Reflection Beast in "Mirror Madness", and in "Home Away From Home", she tearfully hugged Dorothy, when she was about to leave Oz permanently, before the latter fixed it, though she could have been delighted at that due to her dislike of Dorothy.

Relationships[]

Dorothy[]

Wilhelmina is nothing more and nothing less than Dorothy's second arch-nemesis, since the defeat of the Wicked Witch.

She is extremely jealous of Dorothy (maybe because she has friends), an example is in "Beast in Show" when, since she did not have a pet for a competition whereas Dorothy already had Toto, she created her own: a hybrid that she named Salvador.

Willie has nicknames for Dorothy like "Pigtails" and "Kansas". It's unclear whether she came up with them on her own, or got them from her aunt. Her aunt has also be heard using these. Usually antagonistic, there are times when they team up and even hugged (such as in "If the Shoe Fits...", when Dorothy saved her from getting stuck in Under the Rainbow forever). Although she has rejected every opportunity to be her friend, Dorothy sometimes cares for Wilhelmina.

Trivia[]

  • Although the Nome King was the first villain to appear in the series, Wilhelmina was the only villain who had the most appearances.
  • Wilhelmina has cried six times in the show. The first time was in "Abraca-Oops!". The second time was "The Return of the Wicked Witch". The third time was in "Three Friends and a Magic Crystal". The fourth was in "Where-Helmina's My Broom?!". The fifth was in "Home Away From Home". And the sixth time was in "Beast in Show".
  • Even when Ozma strips her magical abilities, her eyes still turn red when angry at getting wet in "The Old Classic".
  • In "Time After Time" she describes herself as having "elegantly manicured and delicate green hands".
