William Chen is one of the main antagonists of the S.W.A.T. episode "Unraveling" along with Vivian Tremblay. He is a businessman who was responsible to luring in multiple Chinese immigrants by tricking them into thinking they would live a productive life in America, but would instead force them into working at a sweatshop.

Biography[]

William Chen was a business owner who worked along with Vivian Tremblay to run a sweatshop in Los Angeles, California. He would routinely trick Chinese migrants into thinking that there was prosperous job and employment opportunities in the United States. After luring the people to America, he would have them forced into an undisclosed location to work long hours throughout the entire day in the sweatshop. Workers were routinely threatened and scared into complying with William Chen's orders under the threat of violence. He would also have workers killed for going against him. The sweatshop would help Vivian Tremblay's business profit while he and Vivian were not on amicable terms.

As a young woman named, LaToya Turner, helped one of the workers, Grace, escape from the sweatshop and stay hidden William Chen and his people. William and Vivian were able to stage a flash-mob robbery at the shopping center that LaToya Turner worked at while sneaking in an assassin to kill her to obfuscate her murder during the incident. Her murder caused David "Deacon" Kay to grieve as he thought he accidentally killed her during the crossfire with an assailant. However, the investigation revealed she was murdered by an assailant and that LaToya Turner was protecting Grace from a sweatshop operation. As the investigation continued, some leads led to LAPD S.W.A.T. arresting Vivian Tremblay. Realizing that there was a problem, William had the workers and his underlings relocate to another undisclosed location to avoid the LAPD. William and his underlings try to relocate again but LAPD S.W.A.T. closed in on his underlings and managed to rescue most of the workers. Desperate and cornered, William holds a gun to Grace's brother, Park Lin's head, as he tries to escape from the compound. As Hondo tries to negotiate with William Chen to de-escalate the situation, William Chen continued to walk away from Hondo while holding Park as his hostage until Deacon disarmed him, knocked him to the ground, and arrested him. William Chen is arrested by LAPD S.W.A.T.. He is brought to the LAPD police station where he is last seen glaring at Vivian Tremblay as she leaves the police station.
