William Romero (simply known Senator William) is the secondary antagonist in the Filipino action drama series known as Black Rider.
He is a corrupt official who was working under Golden Scorpion, alongside with Sasha Buenaventura and Wilfredo Policarpio his fellow allies working in the syndicate who are affiliated in the government. He was initially an ally of Edgardo Magallanes the leader of Golden Scorpion, later to Rebecca Chen the leader of Golden Scorpion’s rival.
He is played by Roi Vinzon who also played General Armando Soriano in My Husband's Lover. In his younger years, he is played by Luke Conde.
Biography[]
He was once a police officer and at one point in his younger years he raped a nun named Grace, unknown to him that he have impregnated her having their daughter Vanessa.
At some point he became a senator in the Philippines affiliated from the political party of the president of the country. Unknown to the public he was involved with political corruption alongside with Sasha Buenaventura and Wilfredo Policarpio his fellow government officials working under a drug dealing and murderous criminal syndicate known as Golden Scorpion led by Edgardo Magallanes. He has also been involved in adulterous action with Sasha Buenaventura, wife of his godson and family friend Mayor Alfonso Buenaventura.
After General Policarpio was exposed on his involvement with his involvement of Golden Scorpion, he has been threatened due to his partnership in Golden Scorpion as the president begins to investigate the Palangga massacre case caused by Calvin and his gang. Later he decides to betray Golden Scorpion and decides to join forces with Rebecca Chen, the leader of Golden Scorpion’s rival syndicate as he plans to take over Edgardo’s fortune.
As he joined forces with Rebecca Chen’s syndicate, he orchestrates his plan to betray Golden Scorpion by pinpointing their hideout in Isla Alakdan to the authority. As he prepares his mission with the authorities to exterminate Golden Scorpion, he met Edgardo injured in a bloody duel with his son Black Rider and violently beat defenselessly, admitting that he had betrayed Golden Scorpion. The moment he beat Edgardo violently, Elias was able to point gun at him. As he meets Elias, he warned him to drop his gun and lied to the authorities that he is a member of the Golden Scorpion.
Upon Golden Scorpion has fallen, he makes alliance with Rebecca Chen in their drug empire and later with his former accomplice Antonio Rodriguez, after stopping him from terrorizing Rebecca Chen’s mansion in order for him to retrieve his son Calvin. He has also been involved flirting with Rebecca Chen until Sasha learns about it who attempted to shoot them. As Sasha shoots Rebecca, he was able to stop her by throwing her in the terrace and Rebecca shoots her to death.
Upon the President of the Philippines learns about his atrocities thanks to Elias and Edgardo, he ordered his men to ambush the president, the vice president, and Elias with the help of Rebecca Chen’s forces and Pulang Diyablo resulting the death of the vice president and comatose situation of the president. With this situation, he takes advantage of his position to sit as the president with his despotic rule.
With the help of Calvin and Antonio’s forces alongside with his goons, they invaded Joan and Paeng’s wedding causing the deaths of Estong, Anabel, Omeng, and Gina. He learns Vanessa, his lost daughter was one of the casualties and takes her away from her adopted family while recovering from comatose. Later on, as Bane regains consciousness she suffers amnesia causing her to loss her memories in the past events which makes him takes advantage of taking her as his daughter and brainwash her that Elias Guerrero is her assailant.
Later on, police forces learns his atrocities, however they were stop by Calvin and Alvaro’s men as their tactic to use Gen. Ricarte and his men to blackmail him after he had feud with Calvin after his refusal to be Bane’s lover. Days later, he was diagnosed with terminal illness declaring it as his payback for all of his crimes. However, he was abducted by Alvaro and Calvin, alongside with Rebecca after Bane being resistant on their forced relationship.
His men later rescues him from the hands of Alvaro and later on he was faced by Elias once again but Bane stopped them from pointing gun each other making him confess the truth to Elias. Unfortunately he was killed by Calvin and his forces leading his downfall.
Personality[]
He is portrayed to be a stereotypical corrupt politician for being hypocrite as he shows himself to the public that he has clean records in the public, but in reality he is involved with shady conspiracies with the Golden Scorpion’s illegal activities. He also displays a personality of being opportunistic, selfish, and greedy individual as he plans himself that he will betray his boss Edgardo by exterminating Golden Scorpion with the help of police force as he will show in the public that he is a loyal politician but in reality to obtain Edgardo’s fortune. With his criminalistic behavior, he is also shown to be murderous and power-hungry individual as he abuses his power to eliminate everyone who would oppose his ways.
