|“||You do not free the cities as you believe, but rather damn them! And in the end, you'll have only yourself to blame...you, who speak of good intentions.||„|
|~ William of Montferrat's last words.|
William of Montferrat is a supporting antagonist from the videogame Assassin's Creed. He is a Templar, and the fifth target that Altaïr needs to assassinate. He is a Crusader, and the regent of Acre.
He was voiced by Harry Standjofski.
William served King Richard as Regent Lord of Acre. He spends most of his time training his men for the "coming war". However, only a few of his man have been sent to join king Richard, so a lot of people are wondering which "war" he refers to. William always demands the best of his men, and he is quick to point out flaws. He rarely praises his men.
The Assassins believed William was planning to kill king Richard and give the city of Acre to his son Conrad. Altaïr finds out that William despises his own son, and he was planning to turn Acre over to the Templars. That was the war he was preparing his men for.
William of Montferrat is assassinated by Altaïr in the rich district of Acre. King Richard came to Acre to talk to William, the conversation turns into a heated discussion, an William retreats to his citadel.
Altaïr managed to enter the citadel without anyone noticing and saw William insult his men, in order for them to train harder. During this speech, Altaïr manages to strike from above, and kill William with his hidden blade.
