~ Willy Mack's villainous breakdown to the player when his true nature is revealed. |
Willy Mack is the main antagonist of the indie game Let's Find Larry!.
He is a psychopathic serial killer wearing the player's high school friend, Larry's face as a disguise to continue his crime spree in a new town without consequence.
Biography[]
Background[]
During the years of 1996-1999, Willy Mack brutally murdered and mutilated seventeen people for an unknown reason, with the most graphic murders taking place in the small town of MiddleWood. However, he was apprehended in the year 2001 and sentenced to life in prison. A year before the game's events Willy Mack was to be relocated but the prison transport vehicle he was riding in crashed and burst into flames. Willy Mack was assumed dead by the police but in reality he had escaped. Needing a new disguise to avoid being recognized and arrested, Willy traveled to the small town of MiddleWood and brutally murdered and mutilated a popular resident named Larry. He cut off Larry's face and wore it over his face as a disguise.
In Let's Find Larry[]
Soon after, this, the protagonist (or possibly name Thomas or tom his short name) decides to take a walk in the park and mistakenly recognizes Willy Mack as Larry, their best friend from High School whom they haven't seen in years. The protagonist begins to stalk Willy, following him through MiddleWood and trying to say "Hi", mistakenly believing him to be Larry. Willy begins to become afraid the protagonist could blow his cover and tries harder and harder to escape from them. He steals a car from a mall and crashes into it on the highway after being spotted by the protagonist.
The protagonist manages to chase Willy into an abandoned and dilapidated district of MiddleWood where the protagonist is confronted by an undercover investigator who tells the protagonist that they are after Willy and to keep following him if they know what's good for them. The protagonist eventually finds Willy in a trash can, where he lies to them that the investigators took his family (implying that he also killed Larry's family) and begs them not to let the investigators find him. The protagonist ignores Willy's plea and reveals his location to the investigators. Willy attempts to hide in a nearby BDSM nightclub but is once again found by the protagonist to which he screams. The protagonist manages to chase Willy out of the nightclub and he flees to the top of an abandoned tower.
The investigator gives the protagonist a .50 cal sniper rifle and instructs them to shoot Willy. The protagonist complies and Willy jumps off the abandoned skyscraper into a dark alley. The investigator reveals he has been hunting Willy for half his life and reveals his true identity to be Willy Mack. The investigator and his team surround Willy and he points his gun at him and prepares to shoot while the protagonist noticeably begins to shake, likely out of fear that the man he has been finding is not his best friend Larry. Willy begins laughing psychotically and charges at the investigator with a knife, the investigator fires at Willy but he runs so fast that he dodges all the bullets and then brutally murders his entire team and stabs and cuts the investigator so many times, that his face is brutally torn in half. The protagonist then discovers Larry's cut-off face, now discarded by Willy and rotting, surrounded by flies. Willy then confronts the protagonist and tells them how they ruined everything and that he will need a new disguise and questions if the protagonist will scream as much as Larry did when he killed him. He destroys the protagonist's magnifying glass and plunges them into the abandoned MiddleWood district with him. The protagonist briefly wanders around before Willy charges at them with his knife and kills them. Presumably cutting off their face and wearing it as his next disguise.
The next day, the news revealed that the body of a dismembered person was found in MiddleWood Park and that trash bags were found underground with body parts stuffed into them. The attempts to find out who the person was proved difficult as the face had been removed. They then reveal the murder took place between 8-9AM in MiddleWood Park. This means that this is Larry's dead body they found in the park, not the protagonist's. The news reporter then goes over the resemblance to the Willy Mack murders that haunted the town in 1996-1999 and the publicly unknown status of Willy Mack.
Skills and Powers[]
Powers[]
- Fast Speed: He is seemingly fast, being able to run away to other locations in seconds and even being able to dodge bullets. He was also able to escape the prison transport vehicle before it could've exploded.
- Possible Immortality: He is shown to survive a gunshot to possibly his heart, and fall off a tall building, and turns out to not have any injuries. He also survived both a car accident & even the fires that followed.
- Due to this, it is possible that Willy Mack is actually a demon capable of shapeshifting into others just by literally wearing their faces as masks.
Skills[]
- Manipulation: He does this by tricking the player into thinking that he's the actual Larry, and that the people chasing him took his family, and that he's next to make the player feel bad for him, though this doesn't work.
- Stealth: Although Willy Mack is unable to hide from the protagonist & their magnifying glass forever, it does get progressively difficult to find him. Furthermore, Willy Mack has been able to blend in without anyone (except the investigator & his team) knowing his true identity for years.

Trivia[]
- In one of the levels, "Larry" can be seen hiding in a "Halloween Masks" store, foreshadowing his reveal.
- Willy is likely a parody of the popular character, Waldo, from the franchise, Where's Waldo.
- Tom, the reporter at the end of the game, is theorized to be Willy Mack, as he states "I fucking hate this job" before immediately assuming a friendly persona when he realizes he's on camera.
- A cool detail about Willy Mack is that while disguised, you can actually distinguish between him and the real Larry. When he was alive, Larry had ear piercings and buck teeth, while Willy Mack's disguise has neither of these.
- Willy Mack was probably inspired by Leatherface where he likes to greedily take people's skin.
