Winston Chu is a major character in Sleeping Dogs. He is a Red Pole of the Sun On Yee Triads, the leader of the Water Street Gang and the archenemy of Dogeyes Lin. Brutish, impatient, and very easily brought to rage and violence, Winston is nonetheless a loyal friend to Wei Shen, though he never became aware of Wei being an undercover cop.

Biography

Winston grew up in Old Propserity, a very poor housing project in Hong Kong's North Point area and was raised by his mother. He was childhood friends with many now current members of the Sun On Yee Triads, and was best friends with his eventual archenemy Sam Lin. Winston never went to school for any lengthy periods of time, and joined the Triads at very early age. Here, he would grow up heavily involved in the gang life, forming The Water Street Gang with his friends. He would one day rise to the rank of Red Pole, but with this came an ultra hostile conflict with Dogeyes' Jade Gang, and the once best friends became bitter sworn enemies.

Personality

Winston relies on sheer brute force and intimidation to accomplish his goals. He is not skilled in things like as strategy or how to run a criminal organization effectively, owing to his preference of physical violence. It is possible that his exceptionally easily triggered rage is due to a result of steroid use, and as such, Winston can be quickly offended and triggered, and is all too easily made violent because of it. He despises cowards, liars, snitches and phonies, and can be extremely brutal in dealing with his enemies.

Despite this, Winston values loyalty above all else. He looks after his own and thinks of his gang like his family, and is very devoted to both them and is a strong family man, taking care of and assisting his mother in any way he can.
