I’M GONNA WRECK IT!!!
~ Ralph’s famous quote.
Never better, Garfield!
~ Ralph in Once Upon a Studio

Wreck-It Ralph is the main antagonist of the fictional Fix-it Felix Jr. video game in Disney's 52nd full-length feature film Wreck-It Ralph.

He is a nine feet 643 pound man who lives on a tree stump in a forest, after him and his stump were moved to a garbage dump by the Nicelanders so they could claim the land and build their buildings, naming it “Niceland”, Ralph, furious at this, started terrorizing the Nicelanders and wrecking all of the Niceland buildings as revenge, only for Fix-it Felix to come in, fix the Niceland buildings, and save Niceland and the Nicelanders, ending in the Nicelanders giving Felix a medal and a pie, and angrily throwing Ralph off the buildings into a big pile of mud. He is Fix-it Felix's arch-nemesis.

Portrayals[]

  • In both films, as well as Once Upon a Studio, he is voiced by John C. Reilly.
  • In Disney Speedstorm, he is voiced by Ross Marquand, who also TBD.

Appearance[]

Ralph is a bulky nine foot tall man with large hands and feet and has brown messy hair, he wears brown overalls and an orange shirt, and lacks shoes.

Personality[]

Ralph is an incredibly wrathful man who's constantly angry and vengeful against the Nicelanders for stealing his home. However, despite his wrathful nature, Ralph was not originally hostile before he was moved to the dump, and seemed to be minding his own business than actively attacking people.

Trivia[]

  • Wreck-It Ralph is meant to be a homage to Donkey Kong from the original 1981 arcade game.
  • During early stages of the creation of his character, Ralph had many different designs such as a red spiked boar, an Ape (an Albino and one with red fur), a cyclops, and a caveman, before finalized as a man in overalls.
  • Despite being the main antagonist of his game, Ralph is rather sympathetic as the reason he's so hostile to the Nicelanders was because they stole his home. Due to this, one could say the Nicelanders' torment is their own fault, as Ralph wouldn't have antagonized them had they not done the same to him.
    • Also in the promotional song "Wreck-It, Wreck-It Ralph", it's mentioned that Ralph actually owns the forest he resides in, and the Nicelanders took it by eminent domain. Since Eminent Domain is only allowed if it's public use (and penthouses aren't on the list), this means the Nicelanders illegally took Ralph's land from him, arguably justifying Ralph's actions even more.
    • Also Ralph never received any compensation for his land.
  • In early production, Ralph had a cat who was run over by a steamroller while the Nicelanders built their penthouse. This concept was removed for being too dark for a PG rating and to not offend sensitive viewers, though concept art of Ralph mourning it's fate still exists.
