Hello, hello my friends! Great to see ya, nice to meet ya, let me greet ya! You can call me... Wyrm!

Wyrm is a minor antagonist in the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series serving as the titular main antagonist of the episode "The Weird World of Wyrm."

He was voiced by Dwight Schultz, who also voiced Technovore in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Attuma in Avengers Assemble, Charon and Helios in God of War: Chains of Olympus, General Wilhelm Strasse in Wolfenstein: The New Order, Professor Pyg in Batman: Arkham Knight, and The Vulture in Marvel's Spider-Man.

Biography[]

Wyrm is one of the three reality bending creators of chaos who were put in fifth dimensional prisons millennia ago and scattered through out the cosmos. He is considered the most powerful Wyrm in the 10 dimensions.

The Weird World of Wyrm[]

When Turtles, April, Casey and Fugitoid arrive to the ship where they got the signal from, there appears to be no signs of life, and a strange hole blown from the inside of the ship. During their stay there Casey "wishes" something non-boring could happen. In the glass on his helmet, you can see a blue glow reflecting off it, which indicates the first signs of Wyrm's presence. Casey leaves the company of the Turtles, and goes to investigate the strange glowing.

The Turtles, April and Casey decide to search the wreckage for survivors, get into their space suits and go on board the ship. But the crew finds only their bodies, and Casey discovers a strangely luminous cube. But no sooner does he takes it into his hand, they are surrounded by the crew, which has been transformed into a horde of living dead; but they fight them off and shake them, and take the cube safely back on board the ship. There, Honeycutt identifies the cube that Casey has found as a hypercube, a key to a Fifth Dimension, the home of numerous extra-dimensional entities. He decides to lock the cube up safely, but Casey, who strangely refuses to give it, has to have it ripped right out of his hands.

When the Turtles later view a recording of the old cartoon show Chris Bradford's 2 Ruff Krew, Casey sneaks into the section of the vessel in which the Fugitoid has housed the cube. As if under a compulsion, he handles the cube and finally opens it; which oozes out a cloud of smoke with eyes, standing in front of Casey - and the Turtles, April and Honeycutt, who noticed Casey's disappearance too late - is a grotesque, lauthalsigen figure called Wyrm. Wyrm tells them that it is his job to spread joy in the universe and therefore offers them three wishes that he could fulfill - two, since Casey has already squandered the first of them with the revival of the Astrozombies.

After Wyrm has explained to them the rules that accompany the fulfillment of these wishes, the group begin to advise what they could do with them. As Casey makes a bit too self-centered proposal Donatello bursts at the collar that he accidentally engaged with the wish that Casey is no longer to be such a dummy. This wish is promptly fulfilled and transforms Casey into a hyper-intelligent, omniscient being. As they now have only one wish left, the Turtles decide to make the last selection extremely carefully.

But this does not seem to fit into Wyrm's intentions; he disappears, and the next moment the ship collides with an obstacle. When looking back, the group realize that they have somehow been caught both outside and inside the hypercube. Then Honeycutt identifies Wyrm as one of the three legendary creators of chaos, omnipotent cosmic entities locked up in Hypercubes long ago to protect the universe from their escapades. A fulfillment of all three wishes would mean the liberation of Wyrm and thus total chaos for the entirety of creation. When the Turtles refuse to make a wish after this news, Wyrm is able to cope with them effortlessly, without the Turtles themselves being able to get hold of him. Raphael in frustration wishes for a super-weapon against Wyrm. He gets the demand, but the weapon is made ineffective by Wyrm's rules to his wishes and the third wish is wasted.

To celebrate his liberation, Wyrm begins arbitrarily eradicating entire planets and stars. The Turtles try to prevent him from doing so, but they still have no chances. To all this, Casey, despite his new hyper-intelligence, seems to see no other solution to this problem than to join Wyrm! Thereupon the enthusiastic Wyrm, on his advice, gives Casey the power to make another wish to finally get the Turtles out of the way. But to Wyrm's horror, Casey wants everything to be as if they had not found the hypercube at all. Although Wyrm is desperately opposed to it, the wish is legitimate and must therefore be fulfilled.

And so time goes back until shortly before the moment, when Casey is in the wreck of the spaceship begins his wish for a little more excitement. Led by déjà vu, April however, stops him, and so the cube remains undiscovered. When the Turtles and their friends leave the wreck to return to Honeycutt's ship, Wyrm, caught helplessly in the cube, can only despair of his lost liberation...

Personality[]

Wyrm is really impatient and short tempered. Although at first he might seem cool and funny, Wyrm, as the creator of chaos that he is, likes to do things his own way. It seems that he only has enemies and as he doesn't work well with others and only wants to bring chaos to the universe. However, he is willing to forge an alliance with Casey Jones, before Casey wishes that they never found the hypercube, effectively undoing Wyrm's chaos and trapping him once more within the hypercube.

Trivia[]

  • He and his titular episode were based on the character Wigglenog and his titular episode "Meet the Wigglenog" from the director Ciro Neil's earlier show Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!.
  • Wyrm's three rules of wish-making:
    • Wyrm only grants three wishes, so if needed, you'll have to share it with others;
    • You can't wish for more wishes;
    • You can never ever wish to hurt a Wyrm.
  • Wyrm can be considered as one of if not the most powerful villain in the entire series, only rivalled by Kavaxas, having such powerful abilities as destroying planets and stars in seconds, reality warping, spatial manipulation, time traveling, etc, but like Kavaxas, he can't refuse to do what he's told when granting a wish.
  • Wyrm is one of the few villains in the 2012 TMNT series to have killed other living characters onscreen, the others being Shredder (who killed both Tang Shen (albeit accidently) and Splinter), Za-Naron (who vaporized Donatello), Kavaxas (who drained the souls of both Tatsu and The Hammer, and killed other henchmen of Don Viszioso), Triceratons (who destroyed the Earth and got rid of the Kraang), Creep (who drained the mutagen from Raph and transformed him into a plant), The Rat King (who killed hundreds of rats during his fight with Splinter), Newtralizer (who electrocuted Mickey and ate a Kraang), Dracula (who killed the mummy), and Jei (who killed the Turtles in a nightmare).
    • He easily has the highest kill count in the series by destroying about twenty planets onscreen (though this was reversed by Casey who tricked him into wishing that he never found the hypercube).
  • The music that plays during Wyrm's cosmic rampage, is Pyotr Tchaikovsky's The Year 1812 Solemn Overture Op. 49.
