The Wyrms are minor antagonist in The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II. They are large worms, relatives of dragons, and allies of the goblins of Ettenmoors and the dark lord Sauron.

History[]

A Wyrm appears from underground, during the siege of Rivendell.

A Wyrm appears from underground, during the siege of Rivendell.

It is almost completely unknown where these creatures come from or how they came into being, but what is certain is that they were relatives of dragons and allies of the Dark Lord Sauron and the goblins of Ettenmoors. When the goblins attacked Rivendell, but the elves' counterattack destroyed their camp, such a creature also appeared and attacked the elves. The monster's fire killed many elves, but the leaders, Elrond, Glorfindel, Glóin and their warriors finally killed it.

These creatures also appeared in other places in the War of the Ring. In a battle in the north, at the Celduin River, a large army of Dol Guldur fought a great battle against Dáin II Ironfoot’s dwarves and men of Dale. After the dwarves and humans repelled the attack of the evil forces, they launched a counterattack, but suddenly a wyrm appeared and attacked the army. The monster burned to death several dwarves, but Dáin and his warriors killed the monster and destroyed a nearby fortress and camp of Dol Guldur.

The last wyrm emerged during the Siege of Dol Guldur, after the united armies of dwarves and elves stormed the evil's greatest stronghold in the North. However, Thanduril and the Mirkwood archers quickly killed the monster, so it could not change the outcome of the siege. After the destruction of Dol Guldur and the destruction of Sauron, these creatures no longer appeared anywhere.

Powers and abilities[]

The Wyrm attack the elves with flame breath.

The Wyrm attack the elves with flame breath.

Wyrms were strong and tenacious creatures due to their great size, it was difficult to kill these creatures. They were capable of fiery breath, with which they could burn several enemies at once, and they could also damage or destroy buildings. They were also able to move underground, so they could sometimes surprise the enemy.
