Trevor, my boy! Come over to the dark side ... of the room! And give your Gramps a hug!
~ Xenior XOX

Xenior XOX is a recurring villain from the Teletoon animated series, Sidekick. He is a retired supervillain, who currently resigns at the Heroic Pines Retirement Home and is the father of Master XOX/Martin Troublemeyer and the grandfather of Trevor Troublemeyer. Like the rest of his family, Xenior XOX is pure evil and he's trying to lead his grandson, Trevor, down the path of villainy to fulfill his true destiny. However, Martin is opposed to this, not because he wants Trevor to be good, but because he wants to be the one who turns Trevor evil and he's afraid Xenior XOX is taking that away from him. Xenior XOX first appeared in the episode "Wrinkle Resistant".

Biography[]

In "Wrinkle Resistant", Martin Troublemeyer took Trevor to Heroic Pines Retirement Home to see his grandfather, Xenior XOX for a family get together. Eric came along too, since, as an orphan, this was his only chance to spend time with an actual family. When they went into Xenior XOX's room, he greeted them by blasting at them all with his death lasers and calling his son, Martin, a failure. Trevor was overjoyed to see Xenior XOX and gave him a big fat hug. Eric introduced himself to him, delighted to finally meet him and Xenior XOX asked who the nerd was and blasted him with more death rays in confusion, until his laser gun ran out of juice. After Eric and Trevor left to go wait in the car, Xenior XOX chided Martin for not being as evil as himself. Martin told him not to start, as they've been over this before. It was made prevalent that Martin did not want Trevor to be evil. Xenior XOX promised not to do anything evil with Trevor but immediately contradicted this by giving the kids black licorice, the most evil candy of them all. After Xenior XOX left, Martin transformed into Master XOX and monologued about how he wanted Trevor to fall in the evil footsteps of himself and he was not going to let his dusty old grandpa take that away from him.

On the ride through town in the family van, Xenior XOX got annoyed with Eric's bright and chipper attitude and tried to blast him with another death ray but Martin put his foot down and forbade him to use any more of these. Xenior XOX then requested that they visit the evil side of town. When Trevor asked why he wanted to go to the evil side of town, Xenior XOX tried to tell him that their family is descendant of villainy but Martin stopped him and made him leave the van with Eric and Trevor. While they were gone, Martin briefly turned into XOX and plotted a way to murder his dad by drowning him in some tar pits. Eric returned and told Martin that they worked out a compromise, to have a nice family picnic on the evil side of town.

On the evil side of town, Xenior XOX tried to feed Trevor some high-fructose corn syrup soda with some black pumpernickel, which he could cut with a laser dagger. Martin contradicted this and tried to feed him an organic wheat grass smoothie instead and give him some protective sunscreen. The two of them bickered over the proper way to raise Trevor. Xenior XOX told Martin that he wasn't going to fail Trevor the way he failed him. This demonstrated that Xenior XOX didn't know that Martin had the alter-ego of Master XOX and was under the impression that his son was good all around.

That night, Xenior XOX took the family to The Troublemeyer Family Homestead, a rusty old shack in the middle of the woods, where he used to live. When they went inside, Eric saw a bunch of photos on the wall of Xenior XOX abusing Martin as a child. Xenior XOX would then show everyone a secret laboratory with a doomsday device inside of it. Trevor was blown away by the wicked awesomeness of this machine. Martin tried to step in to stop Xenior XOX but Xenior XOX pushed a button that activated a springboard, launching Martin and Eric out of the room. This allowed for Xenior XOX to teach Trevor about his true family history of villainy but all this went over Trevor's head. Xenior XOX encouraged Trevor to press the big red button on the doomsday device, activating a five minute countdown to the apocalypse. Trevor pressed the button and was dazzled by the pretty lights of the machine starting up, completely oblivious to what it was really all about.

Outside, Martin told Eric that they'd be playing hide and seek and had him count to 1,000. Meanwhile, he turned back into Master XOX and plotted to destroy Xenior XOX once and for all, wanting to maintain his title of being the only supervillian in the family and the sole mentor of Trevor Troublemeyer.

As the doomsday device neared the end of its countdown, Xenior XOX tried explaining to Trevor what this was all about but Trevor was so stupid that he didn't comprehend that his family was evil. Master XOX broke in and challenged Xenior XOX to a battle. Xenior XOX didn't recognize his son and had apparently never seen Master XOX before in his life. The two of them started blasting each other with weapons, while Trevor watched in amazement and cheered them on. Their fight ended when they both took out giant explosives and blew each other up.

Among the rubble of the war's aftermath, XOX had returned to Martin again and Trevor was faced with a decision of whether he wanted to choose Xenior XOX or Martin. Trevor chose his dad, not because he liked him but because he'd miss his TV too much if he chose grandpa, who he liked better. Xenior XOX admitted that this was probably for the best, since, if he blew up the world, then he'd blow up Trevor and Trevor would never reach his true destiny of blowing up the world. The whole family got along and they all left together to go get some creamed corn. After they did, the doomsday device was shown to still be on and it counted down to one just as the episode ended.

Trivia[]

  • In "Wrinkle Resistant", Xenior XOX didn't recognize Martin when he was in the form of XOX. However, in "OppoXOX", he was well-aware that XOX was the secret identity of Martin.
  • Although his wife has never been seen in the show, a flashback to the 70's in "Maxum Men" saw a young Xenior XOX hitting on a woman who looked suspiciously similar to Trevor. It can be assessed that this would soon become Xenior XOX's wife and the mother of their son, Martin.
    • However, this creates a plothole as Martin was shown to already be alive in the same scene where this woman appeared.
